ABOUT ME

I am a soil scientist and a biogeochemist. My research seeks to understand the biogeochemical functions of microorganisms at multiple biological organization levels from micro- to global scale in both terrestrial and marine environments. I use a combination of research approaches including biochemical, molecular, and modeling techniques to define the mechanisms under which microbial communities respond to and mediate biogeochemical cycling and quantify the functional shifts of microbial communities in a changing environment and the potential feedback of the microbial community dynamics on the environment. I am also extending my research to (1) carbon cycling in the complicated food web of the Arctic Ocean, (2) arsenic biogeochemical dynamics in tropical paddy soils, and (3) integrating AI into studying hidden biodiversity in Vietnam.
