Gayle Torrens lives in Australia. She has been happily married since 1973 and she and her husband, Wayne Torrens have four adult children and nine beautiful grandchildren; all of whom feature prominently in her stories.
Gayle was a teacher for thirty years and Wayne was a school principal for forty years. They taught in many schools throughout Queensland and list Badu island as one their most enjoyable postings. Gayle has included many aspects of Badu life into the tralldoms. They both retired from teaching in 2013.
Throughout her teaching career, Gayle was always very involved in creative literacy and co-ordinated activities such as the Drama Club, the Creative Writing Club, the Digital Storywriting Club, the Debating Club, the Mooting Club, the Verse Speaking Choir and the Poetry Appreciation Club. She also helped out with school appearances on Wakakirri and Rock Eisteddfod.
Gayle has been creating her entertaining stories since a very young age. Firstly, to entertain her younger brothers, then for the pupils in her classes and eventually for her own children and grandchildren.
She now volunteers as a storyteller and visits schools and daycare centres in Australia and overseas; spellbinding the children with her convoluted tales and weaving magic with the help of her ten colourful and zany characters:
Larry, the Laughing Leprechaun
Wilga, the Wacky Witch
Pete, the Prancing Pirate
Freya the Fanciful Fairy
Emily, the Extraordinary Explorer
Elvis, the Enchanting Elf
Quincy, the Quirky Queen
Tottie, the Tetchy Teacher
Clancy, the Cool Clown
Mrs Riding Hood, Red's Grandma.
Gayle lists her interests as her family, caring for the environment, reading, travel, and entertaining . She has skillfully included all those interests in The Trall Series - a collection of portal fantasies for middle-grade readers.
