Mechanical Engineering Department at IIT Kharagpur has three sections - Manufacturing Science and Engineering (ME1), Thermal and Fluids Engineering (ME2) and Mechanical Systems Design (ME3).
The Training Workshop of the Mechanical Engineering Department currently houses six (6) specialized research laboratories under ME1, facilities for UG and PG Laboratories across 1st, 2nd and 3rd Year Undergraduate and 1st Year MTech Students.
