Dr. Christo Kurisummoottil Thomas, Assistant Professor, Google Scholar
Dr. Thomas completed his postdoctoral research at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Virginia Tech, US (2022–2025), and earned his Ph.D. from EURECOM, France in 2020. He holds an M.S. in Telecommunication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, and a B.S. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from NIT Calicut, India.
His research interests include semantic communications, statistical signal processing, and machine learning for wireless communications.
Before entering academia, Dr. Thomas held key engineering roles in the wireless industry—contributing to 4G LTE development at Broadcom Communications (India), 5G modem design at Intel Corporation (India), and advanced wireless R&D at Qualcomm Inc. (Finland).
His contributions have been recognized with the Best Student Paper Award at IEEE SPAWC 2018 at Kalamata, Greece and a Top 3 finish in the ITU AI/ML in 5G challenge (ML5G-PHY) for his team titled “Learned Chester” conducted at NCSU, US, 2020.
