Troubleshooting skills are critical for anyone working with central lubrication systems. The central lubrication training system gives users practical, real-world troubleshooting experience by allowing realistic faults to be inserted manually into both the electrical and fluid components of the system. For example, terminal strip test points are available at key locations throughout the system to help students troubleshoot faults without damage to the equipment.

The central lubrication trainer includes in-depth, comprehensive curriculum that provides a strong foundation in central lubrication concepts, such as electric pump operation and controller operation and programming. Learners will study topics, such as oils, greases, lubricant management, series/progressive lubrication systems, and piston distributor lubrication systems.

During learning, encourage collaboration, opinions, and discussions with other learners and instructors. Then, once training is completed, ask for feedback on everything from exams to content to software used to train. It will give the learners a sense of participation throughout the process.

In the past, corporate learning has often been a mandatory activity done at a certain time. Now with technologies like an LMS, you can create a much more self-directed, independent learning environment for your adult learners.

You can do this in a few simple ways, including adding assessments and simulations that outline specific problems a learner might actually encounter, and then getting your learners to use their skills to overcome it.

Purpose:  To evaluate the effectiveness of a learner-centered, simulation-based training developed to help medical students improve their procedural skills in intubation, arterial line placement, lumbar puncture, and central line insertion.

Results:  In total, 24 students were trained in six 4-hour sessions. Students reported feeling significantly more confident, after training, in performing all 4 procedures on a real patient (P < .001). Paired-samples t tests indicated statistically significant improvement in knowledge scores for intubation, t(23) = -2.92, P < .001, and arterial line placement, t(23) = -2.75, P < .001. Procedural performance scores for intubation (t(23) = -17.29, P < .001), arterial line placement (t(23) = -19.75, P < .001), lumbar puncture (t(23) = -16.27, P < .001), and central line placement (t(23) = -17.25, P < .001) showed significant improvement. Intraclass correlation coefficients indicated high reliability in checklist scores for all procedures.

Florin Mihai, co-principal investigator and professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, says there is an academic achievement gap between English learners and non-English learners since the former face the challenge of simultaneously learning language and academic content.
