Clinician, Consultant, Coach
I provide trauma-informed and identity-welcoming therapy for adults and supervision for pre-licensure professionals.
Are you a business that wants a private EAP provider? I can provide up to 5 hours of service per week for $3,000/month. Contact me to schedule a discussion call and get started!
I work with adults of all ages, and specialize in women's issues, peri/menopause, trauma and trauma related stress, depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorder. I have depth of experience in working with high-performing women, women going through perimenopause, military or foreign service families, and adults caring for another adult.
As a woman of a certain age, I know how changing hormones can bring on what feels like chaos -- brain fog, mood swings, burnout at work, the total evaporation of patience and anger at the world... I've worked with women who have been gaslit by medical professionals and fallen down rabbit holes trying alternative cures. This phase of life is like the big secret that no one told us about, but women are not broken. Perimenopause is a process that we all go through, if you are (or were) the owner of ovaries, and it requires some new strategies for life management.
Life can sometimes require new training, adapting strategies, mapping out new goals, and figuring out what all the changes mean for you. You may have had a coach for your career, your hobbies, or for parenting- why not for adulting? Coaching focuses on mapping out your focus and building out strategies, and is usually time limited. If coaching is what you are looking for, come visit www.thinkfwd.info and reach out for a consult.
Sometimes, though, therapy is more appropriate. When you feel stuck, held back by events of the past, or find yourself struggling with day-to-day focus- working with a therapist can help.
Working with a therapist can look like lots of different things. Usually it's talking, creating some space together where you can talk about hard things, reflect on what works for you and what you might want to work to change, and where patterns of behavior or thinking may have shown up in your life. Sometimes therapy focuses on finding your support system and building coping skills.
My therapy style is integrative. I am trained in a range of styles and most frequently use strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. My approach to therapy is shaped by cognitive-behavioral theories, feminist and critical theories, systems theory, and person-in-environment orientation.
I work with clients as a partner, recognizing that you are the experts in your life, and the focus is on empowerment and working towards client-identified goals. I am committed to anti-oppressive practice and respect for intersectional identity.
