Track the Quack is a fun migration-inspired project that maps the journeys of wandering rubber ducks to mimic how real migration patterns are tracked by scientists. Each duck represents a traveler, and just like real birds, they’re on the move! We’re tracing their journeys as they’re picked up, dropped off, and passed along.
Yay, you’re part of the flock now! Log your find using our Log a Duck form, upload a photo, and then help the duck continue its journey by dropping it off somewhere new.
Think of yourself as a pit stop, not a forever home! Ducks love to keep moving, so drop it off somewhere new within a few days—unless you’re taking it on a longer trip. In that case, feel free to let it tag along, but don’t forget to log its travels!
No duck-napping, please! 🦆 These ducks are part of a big migration experiment, so they need to stay on the move.
Get creative! Ducks love exploring cool and unique places like parks, libraries, nature trails, or even iconic landmarks. Just be sure it’s somewhere safe and public so someone else can easily find it.
That’s okay! If you need to hang on to it for a few days, just make sure to log its location and any travels it takes with you. The sooner it gets back on its migration route, the better!
Don’t worry, ducks sometimes take unexpected detours. Just let us know via the log form so we can note its last known location and keep an eye out for updates.
No double-ducking! Please only take one duck at a time so we can keep as many ducks as possible traveling.
You can follow the flock on our interactive map, which is updated regularly with the latest locations and photos submitted by quack trackers like you!
