These two fields connect easily because they have the same overarching goals; helping people gain access to their capabilities.
As a bodyworker my task isn't 'fixing' someone's pain pattern - it's teaching clients better ways to be in their bodies. Massage can eliminate pain, but it is more powerful when client's learn how to move and sit and breathe with intention and purpose.
In developing and delivering professional learning to colleagues (the school gig), I learned that good instruction is more than just 'dumping facts' into people. Learning is more powerful when the space to problem solve, think creatively, and grow with purpose is provided.
Facilitating people towards their capabilities, their success, their learning is the gift of being an Instructional Designer.
