This contest is an opportunity for students to hear the stories of South Bend’s own Holocaust survivors, then creatively respond to their experiences in an original work of art or creative writing.
The People Next Door: Witnessing the Holocaust is a 37-minute documentary sharing the stories of six Holocaust survivors who lived in Europe during the Nazi period of the 1930’s and 1940’s but were able to relocate to the South Bend area.
These survivors may have been your family's neighbors, friends, or co-workers.
Students are invited to review The People Next Door documentary (or other Holocaust education resources), then create an original work of art, poetry, or prose in response. Cash prizes will be awarded in each category.
