Head Varsity Coach: Jan Guevara
Jan Guevara (Coach Jan) is thrilled to join Torrey Pines as the new Girls' Head Tennis Coach for the 2025–26 season. This marks her fourth season leading a high school tennis program. Most recently, she coached the Varsity and JV coed tennis teams at Lakeside High School in Seattle, WA, guiding them through an outstanding season. Under her leadership, the teams achieved the Boys' District/Metro Championship, the Girls' Metro Championship and District Finalist honors, a Section Team Championship, and a State Team Championship. Individual players also shined: Boys’ Doubles placed #1 and #4, Boys’ Singles #5, and Girls’ Doubles reached the finals and secured a #4 ranking.
Coach Jan brings a deep passion for tennis and a commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the court. Inspired by her father, she began playing tennis at an early age and continued through college, USTA leagues, and tournaments. In 2020, encouraged by her PTR & PTA Pro Elite mentor, she became a certified coach through the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR), and has since dedicated herself to coaching high school athletes and offering private lessons. “Coaching is all about the student,” she says. “It’s about teaching strong fundamentals that applies on and off the court helping young players grow into confident, capable and contributing leaders in today’s global world.”
Coach Jan is honored to carry on the rich championship legacy of the Falcons' tennis program. She resides in Carlsbad and is the proud mother of her daughter Rachael, continuing the family’s tennis tradition.

Assistant Varsity Coach: Danya Wallis
Danya began playing tennis at age 11 and quickly found her passion for the sport. She competed in USTA junior tournaments throughout middle and high school, and also spent her summers coaching at kids’ tennis camps, where she discovered how much she enjoyed teaching the game.
In high school, Danya won the state singles championship all four years, gaining valuable experience in team competition and ultimately bringing a unique perspective on high school tennis to the Torrey Pines girls team. She went on to play collegiate tennis at the University of Redlands, where she continued to develop her game and deepen her understanding of strategy and teamwork.
Now in her second year of coaching at Torrey Pines High School, Danya enjoys sharing her knowledge and love of tennis with her players. She focuses on helping each athlete develop their skills, build enthusiasm for competition, and support their teammates on and off the court.
