A
Abdoulie Janneh, PhD
Executive Director, Mo Ibrahim Foundation
Dr Abdoulie Janneh is Executive Director, Liaison with Governments and Institutions in Africa, at the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, based in Dakar, Senegal.
Prior to this, Dr Janneh was UN Under-Secretary General and Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission or Africa. He also served as UN Assistant Secretary-General and the UNDP Regional Director for Africa from 2000 to 2005.
Dr Janneh sits on the boards of several organizations, including the Africa Forum of Former Heads of State, Afrobarometer, International Lawyers of Africa (ILFA), Global Integrity, AO Alliance, Trust Africa and Africa Risk Capacity.
Abla Abdel Latif, PhD
Executive Director and Director of Research, ECES
Dr. Abla Abdel Latif, originally a Professor of Economics at AUC, is currently the Chair of the Presidential Advisory Council for Economic Development; and the Executive Director and Director of Research of The Egyptian Center for Economic Studies (ECES). In 2013, she was honored with membership of the Committee of Fifty, whose mission was to draft Egypt’s Constitution following June 30, 2013.
Ahmad Dallal, PhD
President of the American University in Cairo
AUC’s 13th President Ahmad S. Dallal is an accomplished academic leader and renowned
scholar with U.S. and regional higher education expertise, with several decades of teaching,
research and leadership at some of the top universities in the United States.
Dallal is the former dean of Georgetown University in Qatar and served as provost at the
American University of Beirut (AUB) from 2009 to 2015. A prominent scholar of Islamic studies, he has taught at the AUB, Stanford University, Yale University, Smith College and Georgetown University, where he also served as chair of the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies.
An engineer by training, having earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from
AUB, Dallal is experienced in STEM disciplines, particularly in the context of liberal arts education.

Previously, he was head of the Marble Sector of the Chamber of Building Materials at Egyptian Federation of Industries.
Ahmed Galal, PhD
Former Minister of Finance
Mr. Galal was Egypt’s Finance Minister between July 2013 and February 2014 and the ERF Managing Director from 2007 to 2016.
Previously, he worked for the World Bank for 18 years where he conducted research and provided policy advice to governments in several regions.
While on leave from the Bank (2000-2006), he was the Executive Director and Director of Research of the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies (ECES).
Galal authored or co-authored more than dozen books, including Welfare Consequences of Selling Public Enterprises and The Road Not Traveled: Education Reform in the Middle East and North Africa. He also authored several journal articles and book chapters.
In 2004, he was awarded the prestigious regional prize for Economic and Social Sciences by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences.
Galal holds a PhD in economics from Boston University.
Alaa Hashim

Alaa Hashim is a co-founder and executive partner at Transcendium, a boutique management services firm focused on large-scale business transformations. He is also the chairman of Delicious Inc. and owner of the local coffee shop chain, Cilantro Café. Alaa serves on several boards, including Giza Seeds & Herbs, CACC Cargolinx, and B-Tech. He has a background in mathematics and has previously served in multiple roles in the industry, rising to co-CEO of MAC Carpet. He is also involved in various committees and organizations, including the Industry Committee at the AmCham Egypt, the Egypt-US Business Council, and Educate Me. Alessandro Lanza, PhD

Alessandro Lanza, PhD in Economy at University College London, is currently teaching Energy and Environmental Policy at LUISS (Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli).He is member of ENEA B.o.D since 2016 and he is part of the editorial staff of Lavoce.info. He has huge experience in researching, teaching and managing as he has been holding different roles in Italy and abroad, for instance he was Senior Analyst at IEA (International Energy Agency), Chief Economist at Eni, CEO at Eni Corporate University and Senior Research Fellow at the Research Centre KAPSARC, Saudi Arabia. Among his valuable experiences, it must be mentioned his participation in the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) as Leading author. The IPCC won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
Allison Hollowell

Allison Hollowell is the COO of the International Venture Philanthropy Center (IVPC), an organization dedicated to growing the social investment ecosystem globally. Prior to IVPC, she spent 5 years on the leadership team of AVPA's sister network in Asia – The Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN). During her time in Asia, she led AVPN's strategic expansion into India, Indonesia, China, and Vietnam and later, led the development of AVPN's capital mobilization team and AVPN's Academy and Fellowship programs.
Ms. Hollowell has worked in brand management and marketing for more than a decade at Mondelez, Richemont, and Roberto Coin and has mentored numerous social entrepreneurs and NGOs through her volunteer work. Ms. Hollowell has an MBA from NYU Stern and a BA from Villanova University.
Amre Moussa
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Former Secretary General of the Arab League
Chairman of the High-Level Advisory Council of the High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilization, and former foreign minister of Egypt, former Permanent Representative of Egypt to the U.N and former Secretary General of the League of Arab States. Moussa was elected chairman of the 50 member Constituent Committee to amend the constitution in 2014. He was chairman and member of the panel of the wise of the African Union, and was elected chairman of the board of trustees of the Nile University, member of the board of trustees of the Egyptian British University as well as member of the board of the Library of Alexandria. Moussa also serves as a member of the boards of the Sulaimania American University in Kurdistan, Iraq, and Nizami Ganjavi international center, in Azerbaijan. He was awarded the Order of the Nile from Egypt, the Order of the Two Niles from the Sudanese Republic, the Supreme Order of the Renaissance from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, a high order from the State of Qatar, the rank of Commander First Class of the Royal Order of the Polar Star of Sweden, in addition to orders and decorations from Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Ecuador and Venezuela.
Antonio Villafranka

Antonio Villafranca is a lecturer of International Relations at Bocconi University in Milan and a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Chongyang Institute of Renmin University in Beijing. He is the Director of Studies and Co-Head of the Europe and Global Governance Centre at ISPI, where he has coordinated multiple research projects. Villafranca has published extensively on global and European governance and EU policies, and is an economist by training with an MA from the Catholic University of Milan. He also served as ISPI Coordinator of Think20 (T20) Italy during the Italian G20 in 2021.
Atika Ben Maid

Head of the Natural Resources and Sustainable Finance Unit, at AFD Cairo office. This unit covers the sectors of financial intermediation, water and sanitation and rural development. Previously, she was head of the infrastructures’ (covering and water and energy) unit at AFD Jordan office, and policy adviser on water at the French Ministry of Inclusive and Ecological Transition. She holds four Master's degrees in civil engineering, political sciences, economics and finance.

Bambang Permadi Soemantri Brodjonegoro, PhD

Mr. Brodjonegoro is an Indonesian economist, who began his career as a lecturer at University of Indonesia and went on to become the Dean of the Faculty of Economics. Following his career in academia, he took the position of Director-General of IRTI (Islamic Development Bank Institute), in Jeddah.
He then worked for The Republic of Indonesia, under the Ministry of Finance - first as the Chairman of The Fiscal Policy Agency, then as the Vice-Minister and finally as Finance Minister. During his tenure as the Finance Minister, Republic of Indonesia, he initiated Indonesia’s first Tax Amnesty scheme and also designed an improved budget spending by allocating the very first direct-transfer to all 74,000 villages in Indonesia.
In 2019, Bambang Brodjonegoro was appointed as the Minister of Research and Technology, a post he co-held with the Head of National Research and Innovation Agency.

Ms. Deepali Khanna is Vice-President of the Asia Region Office since 2015. She most recently served as Director for Smart Power for Rural Development (SPRD). With over three decades of experience in the development sector, working with organizations such as UNICEF and others.
Prior to joining The Rockefeller Foundation, Ms. Khanna served as Director of Youth Learning with The MasterCard Foundation Ms. Khanna has held multiple leadership positions with Plan International, including Country Director for Vietnam and Regional Director for East and Southern Africa. Ms. Khanna earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Delhi University and holds a certificate from the Humanitarian Leadership Program at Harvard Business School.
Dina H. Sherif, PhD

Dr. Dina H. Sherif is the Executive Director of the Legatum Center for Development & Entrepreneurship at MIT and a Senior Lecturer at the Sloan School of Management. With over 20 years of experience in sustainable development, corporate sustainability, youth engagement, social entrepreneurship, and women's economic inclusion, she is interested in the role of the private sector in sustainable development. She founded her own social enterprise, Ahead of the Curve, in 2012 and is a Senior Advisor to Ashoka. Dina previously held the Willard Brown Chair for International Business at the American University in Cairo and was a founding director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and the John D. Gerhart Center for Philanthropy and Civic Engagement. She has published several works, including a book and reports on philanthropy and responsible business practices in the Arab region.

Hanae has launched edtech ventures and initiatives to empower vulnerable youth with tech skills, while promoting gender equity. She also developed strong ties with the African startup ecosystems and worked as a policy advisor to African governments. She is currently the CEO of Beehane LLC since 2021. Hania Sholkamy, PhD

Hania Sholkamy is an Egyptian anthropologist with a PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences of the University of London. She obtained her BA and MA from the American University in Cairo (AUC).
She is currently an associate research professor at the Social Research Center of the AUC. She has served as an assistant professor of anthropology in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Egyptology at AUC, worked as a research associate at the International Population Council and was the Ioma Evans Pritchard Junior Research Fellow at St. Anne’s College of Oxford University.
She has participated as a member and fellow of various professional associations including the executive committee of the Institute for Gender and Women’s Studies of AUC.
Heba Saleh

Heba Saleh holds a bachelor degree of Arts - BA, English and Comparative Literature from the American University in Cairo and a Master’s degree – MA, Film/Cinema/Video Studies from the University of East Anglia. She worked as a Radio producer at the BBC World Service, then from 1995 as a North Africa correspondent based in London, covering Libya and the three Maghreb countries with a special focus on the civil war in Algeria.
Heba is a self-employed News Correspondent, covering news and current affairs for the BBC. In Cairo, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabic, Syria, Yemen and Jordan.
During the nineties, Heba Saleh was previously the North Africa correspondent of the BBC focusing mainly on Algeria. She has reported from most of the countries of the Middle East and her work has appeared in The Economist, the Irish Times, and Middle East International.

Dr. Laila Iskandar CID CONSULTING | Co-Founder and Former Minister of State in the Government of Egypt. Dr. Iskandar was the Minister of State for Urban Renewal and Informal Settlements in Egypt from July 2014-September 2015 and Minister of State for Environmental Affairs from 2013-2014. Prior to holding public office, she was a leading member of civil society both nationally and internationally, working with youth, women and children in livelihood programs in informal urban settlements and deprived villages in Upper Egypt. CID Consulting was awarded the "Social Entrepreneur of the Year" award in 2006 at the World Economic Forum by the Schwab Foundation. Mahmoud Mohieldin, PhD
Named Country’s High Level Champion for Climate Change Action at COP27
Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He has been the United Nations Special Envoy on Financing the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda since February 2020. Previously, he was Minister of Investment of Egypt, and served as the World Bank Group Senior Vice President for the 2030 Development Agenda, United Nations Relations and Partnerships. In February 2022, Dr. Mohieldin was appointed by the Egyptian Government as the Climate Action Champion at the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), which aims at enhancing the communication between the Egyptian presidency of COP27 and businesses, the private sector and, international funding institutions working in climate change-related fields. Dr. Mohieldin holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom.

She has a long career in public service and activism, including serving as President of Ireland, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, UN Secretary General's Special Envoy on Climate Change, and Chancellor of the University of Dublin. She is also a founding member of several organizations, including “Realizing Rights: The Ethical Globalization Initiative”, and a recipient of numerous awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Ambassador Quaroni holds a Master’s Degree in Political Sciences – University of Rome, and is Awarded: as the “Official Knight of the Order of the Merit to the Republic of Italy”. Prior to holding his current post as the Italian Ambassador in Egypt, his Excellency was the Deputy Permanent Representative of Italy to the European Unio, and before that his excellency was the Diplomatic Advisor of the Minister of the Economy and Finance in Rome.
Ambassador Quaroni was assigned to the Directorate General for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome upon his graduation, and later on assumed the post of Director at the Division for External Relations of the European Union at the General Directorate for European Integration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome.
His excellency has also assumed the post of the First Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Italy to the European Union Directorate General for Political Affairs - Brussels and also the First Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations - New York.

Mireille M. Nessim has over 17 years of experience in managing various development projects, most prominently as the CEO of the NGO, Takatof. Ms. Nessim has held different managerial positions at the American Chamber of Commerce in Cairo, was Relations and Publications Manager at IDSC and RITSEC, then established the Communications Department at both Cairo & Alexandria Stock Exchanges, and the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Mohamed Fahim, PhD

A career diplomat for the Egyptian government, Nasser Kamel held the position of Ambassador of Egypt to the United Kingdom from 2014 to 2018. Omar E. El-Arini, Egypt, was the first Chief Officer and a life-long “Honorary Chief Officer” of the Multilateral Fund. He is the recipient of several international awards in the field of the environment.
As a World Bank consultant, Mr. El-Arini assisted the Global Environment Facility (GEF) in setting up the Adaptation Fund of the Kyoto Protocol. He is a member of the UNFCCC Transitional Committee for the Design of the Green Climate Fund, 2011, as well as a Member of the Board of the GCF, 2012-2018. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Geneva-based South Centre.
He obtained his Bachelor of Science from Ain Shams University (Egypt), a Master of Science from the University of Missouri (USA), and a Ph.D. from Imperial College of Science and Technology and Medicine (UK). He has held research positions in Egypt, Germany and the Netherlands.
