Through Tovar Atelier, Haley seeks to redefine Indigenous representation within fashion and demonstrate that Indigenous artistry belongs on the world's greatest stages.

My kaku (grandmother) passed away when my father was only two years old. However, her presence has remained woven throughout my life in remarkable ways. Through the stories shared by my family, I came to know her as a woman of extraordinary beauty, unwavering resilience, and quiet strength. Each of these being qualities that continue to inspire both the woman I strive to become and the designer I aspire to be. Her legacy reminds me that influence is not measured by time, but by the lives we touch and the stories we leave behind. Every collection I create is, in many ways, a tribute to that enduring spirit, honoring the strength of Indigenous women and celebrating a beauty that is rooted far deeper than appearance.

My toko (grandfather), passed down more than a love of craftsmanship, he passed down a legacy. The sewing knowledge that first reached my father and aunts, and eventually shared with me, began with his hands. Although he is no longer here, his influence lives on in every pattern I draft, every stitch I sew, and every dream I pursue. His dedication to creating with care taught me that true craftsmanship is an act of love, patience, and respect. Through Tovar Atelier, I hope to honor his legacy by carrying our own family's traditions into a new generation, transforming those early lessons into couture that celebrates Indigenous artistry on the world's stage.

Tovar Atelier was born from a lifelong journey of creativity, culture, and reconnection. I first learned to sew at just five years old after receiving my first sewing machine, guided by my dad and aunts, who had learned the craft from my toko (grandfather). What began with creating ribbon skirts and traditional regalia gradually evolved into a passion for couture, where every stitch became an opportunity to tell a story. Growing up in foster care, I spend much of my childhood disconnected from my roots and did not meet another Native person outside of my own family until I was in college. That journey of rediscovery transformed not only my identity, but also my work. Today, surrounded by an extraordinary community while teaching at an all Indigenous school, I have found endless inspiration in the resilience, artistry, and traditions of my people. Tovar Atelier is the result of that journey, a fashion house dedicated to honoring my heritage through couture, celebrating the beauty of the natural world, and creating pieces that carrry our stories into the global stage.
