Three years ago, I discovered how deeply cycling improved my mental wellbeing. What began as a personal journey grew into a way to create impact beyond myself.
In recent years, I combined endurance cycling with fundraising: in 2024 I cycled over 15,000 km, raising funds for TeGek!? (mental resilience), and together with a friend I completed two ultra-distance rides for De Warmste Week, raising over €7,000 for causes addressing loneliness and invisible illnesses.
From 28th of February until 22th of March 2026, I will ride the Tour Aotearoa — a 3,000 km self-supported bikepacking journey across New Zealand.
While preparing, I became increasingly aware of how differently women experience safety and freedom of movement. As a father of two daughters, this matters deeply to me.
That is why I chose to support #BIKEYGEES. They empower women and girls through cycling, creating access to safe mobility, independence, and opportunity. Their values — freedom, resilience, and equality — align perfectly with the spirit of the Tour Aotearoa and with my own.
#BIKEYGEES got over 2,200 women and girls from all over the world cycling for free.
By supporting this campaign, you directly support BIKEYGEES’ work and help turn movement into empowerment.
Thank you for riding along.
