Tour The Top ("we", "our", or "the app") is a mobile application developed by Caleb Steinborn for working touring musicians to manage shows, venues, crew, merchandise, settlements, and tour logistics. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, why, and how.
Tour The Top is a local-first app. Your tour data — shows, venues, crew contacts, merchandise inventory, settlements, photos, and notes — is stored on your device in a local database. We do not operate a backend server that collects, stores, or syncs your tour data to the cloud. There is no Tour The Top account on our servers.
We do not sell your data. We do not run analytics on you. We do not have a marketing funnel.
Tour The Top lets you enter information about your tours, shows, venues, crew, merch, inventory, settlements, riders, and contacts. All of this is stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite database. It is not transmitted to us. If you uninstall the app, this data is deleted along with it.
The app uses your device's camera and photo library so you can:
Attach photos to merchandise inventory items
Set a profile picture for your user account
Capture images to pass to on-device AI for analysis (AI tab)
Photos you capture or select remain on your device. They are not uploaded to us or to any third party, with one exception: if you explicitly configure the optional cloud AI integration (see "Third parties" below), images you send to a cloud AI provider will be transmitted to that provider according to their own terms.
The app uses your device's approximate and precise location only when you open the Social / Venue Discovery tab, and only in the foreground (never in the background). It is used to show you nearby venues on a map and suggest venues along your tour route. Your location is not stored by us and not transmitted to any server we operate. It is used at the moment of the request and then discarded.
Google Maps and Google Places handle the underlying map tiles and venue search. See "Third parties" below.
The app has an in-app user management system so that multiple band members or crew can use the same installation with different permission levels. Usernames, display names, passwords (hashed locally), and optional avatars are stored in the on-device database. These credentials are local to your installation. We do not receive them.
Tour The Top embeds an on-device large language model (llama.rn running Gemma). Prompts you send to this model are processed locally on your device — they do not leave your phone.
The app also supports an optional cloud AI integration: if you choose to provide your own API key (Anthropic or OpenAI) in Settings, prompts you send through the Cloud AI feature will be transmitted to the provider whose key you entered, governed by their terms and privacy policy. You control whether to enable this; the default is on-device only.

We do not request background location, contacts, microphone, calendar, SMS, or call logs.
Tour The Top integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy which applies to data handled by that service.
Google AdMob — displays banner ads at the bottom of the app. AdMob collects information including your device advertising identifier for ad personalization and fraud prevention. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings. AdMob privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
Google Maps Platform and Google Places API — render maps and search for venues. Google receives location queries when you use the map. Google Maps privacy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
YouTube Data API — the Social tab loads YouTube previews. YouTube is a Google service. Google privacy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Anthropic API (OPTIONAL — only if you provide your own API key) — if enabled, prompts and images you explicitly send via the Cloud AI feature are transmitted to Anthropic. Anthropic privacy: https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy
OpenAI API (OPTIONAL — only if you provide your own API key) — same as above. OpenAI privacy: https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy
Hugging Face — used to search for and download AI model files. Hugging Face receives model search queries and download requests. Hugging Face privacy: https://huggingface.co/privacy
We do not share your identity, tour data, contacts, merch inventory, or any on-device database content with any of these providers beyond what is technically necessary for the feature to function (for example, a map query sends the coordinates you're viewing, but not your name or tour history).
Because Tour The Top stores all your data locally on your device, deleting the app deletes your data. We do not retain copies on any server we operate.
If you have exported reports, CSVs, or attached images to external apps (email, cloud storage, etc) those copies are governed by wherever you sent them, not by this policy.
Tour The Top is intended for working touring musicians and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information via the app, contact us and we will help you delete it (although, since the app stores data locally, uninstalling it is usually sufficient).
Your local database is stored in your device's app-specific sandbox, protected by the operating system's built-in app isolation. Passwords for the in-app user system are hashed before being stored. API keys you enter for optional cloud AI integration are stored in the device's secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). We have no visibility into any of this.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you through the app. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
