We’re thrilled to share that Creative New Zealand has awarded Yaniv funding for the second time — recognising his exciting journey as a leading neurodiverse artist from Aotearoa. His first CNZ grant enabled his interactive installation Please Do Touch to tour to Montenegro, Paris, and finally New York, where Yaniv represented New Zealand at the United Nations!
Now, with this new support, Yaniv is touring his latest body of work, including Abstract Acrylics across the motu. These bold, sensory paintings are designed to be touched and experienced up close, breaking traditional gallery rules and welcoming a more inclusive and playful connection with art.
A major highlight of the tour is the Community Canvas — a huge collaborative artwork that grows with every stop. Inspired by the participatory spirit of artist Oscar Murillo, the Community Canvas invites people of all ages, abilities, and art experience to add their own marks. It’s creativity powered by mahitahi — coming together to express, connect, and celebrate neurodiversity.
The tour launched at The Arts Village in Rotorua with over 300 participants, and will continue to roll out nationwide, including inDX at Otago Museum — Ōtepoti / Dunedin; Raglan Arts Weekend — Whāingaroa / Raglan; ArtsPost — Kirikiriroa / Hamilton; New Zealand Maritime Museum — Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland …and more to come!
Altogether, more than 1,000 people are expected to participate in person — and many thousands more will follow the journey online. In 2026, the final Community Canvas will tour kura and colleges throughout Aotearoa, ensuring young people see art as a powerful tool for expression, belonging, and inclusion.
This project is all about opening doors, breaking barriers, and showing that art is for everyone — especially those who haven’t always felt welcomed into creative spaces.
In December 2023, the Auckland Maritime Museum's exhibition welcomed visitors to take a mindful moment to colour, share ideas and kick-start a wave of positive action for the future of our planet.
The art being exhibited in the Creative Arts Gallery in Napier was a range of installations showcasing environmental and social issues faced in today's world. Yaniv described the pieces on exhibit as paintings that ask the audience to visualise sustainability and climatic challenges.
Yaniv's 23rd solo exhibition opened in 2020 at the Lake House Arts Centre in Auckland: 10 paintings, 22 test pots each and 4 sold on the opening night!
Featuring a collection of Yaniv's artworks Ron Epskamp, Gallery Director of the Exhibitions Gallery on Fine Art says he admires artists like Yaniv, "His perspective requires us to view our world in a unique way."
The Vieux Forgeron Gallery in Stanstead hosted Yaniv's first solo exhibition in Canada.
