You can book a free 10-min consultation, or communicate via Whatsapp or other social platforms. We can discuss your case and find the best treatment plan available for you.
Prior to any treatment or discussion, a group of tests are done to know the underlying cause of the symptoms. In most cases, the patient consults a doctor, and this doctor might refer them to physical therapy. If that's the case, please bring with you all the necessary documents available:
Radiographic and diagnostic images (X-ray, MRI, CT scan, Ultrasound report...), Doctor's diagnosis and prescription for PT, Doctor's contact information, a list of long-term medications current and past. You may be contacted and asked to bring specific documents before the appointment.
If you referred yourself to physical therapy without a doctor's referral, you may be asked to undergo certain radiographic images such as X-ray or MRI. Your insurance might not cover those, seeing as there is no direct access for physical therapists in Lebanon. It might also not be possible to prescribe necessary medications in that case. A doctor's referral is highly recommended.
Pain is a symptom, something to signal that there's something wrong with the body. Whenever possible, the goal of physical therapy is to treat the underlying cause of the problem, and with it, all the symptoms.
To decrease pain, we use certain modalities including, but not limited to: passive mobilization, joint gliding techniques, cryotherapy (ice), thermotherapy (heat), electrotherapy, dry needling, cupping therapy, exercise therapy, kinesiotaping... The goal is to restore the patient to functional independence and allow them to return to their daily lives.
Sometimes, it's not possible to identify or treat the underlying problem. In that case, we provide palliative care that aims at decreasing the pain and improving the quality of life.
Electrotherapy is a device that sends small electrical currents which serve to decrease pain. It can also be used for muscle strengthening. The muscle twitch will also cause the blood to pool in the area, removing the waste from the body, and hastening the healing process. It may also be used to decrease nerve pain (ex. radiating disc pain) by numbing the nerve responsible for sending pain signals to the brain.
Depending on the case, we may also use electrotherapy with dry needling. Use cases include muscle and joint pain such as cramps, spasticity, trigger points, tendinitis, muscle strains, joint arthritis, joint restriction...
Chiropractic is the technique most of you LOVE. It involves "cracking" the bones to re-allign any mal-adjustments. However, there are certain indications to perform this technique. A full assessment will be done, and other treatments will be explored before any joint manipulation is considered. However, when it's done, it can be life-changing. It can be performed on the whole body wherever it's needed, not just the spine. It is also considered as a last line treatment for slipped spinal disc.
Done on both sexes, pelvic floor treatment can prevent and treat many problems such as urinary incontinence, painful urination, pain in the pelvis or genital area, hip, abdomen, thigh, or low back, endometriosis, constipation, menopause symptoms, vaginismus, rectal pain, postpartum and pregnancy wellness, pregnancy-related pain, testicular pain...
Neurological disorders are any disorders that affect the brain as well as the nerves found throughout the human body and spinal cord. Some of the neurological cases we treat: Stroke, Traumatic brain injury, Cerebral palsy, Spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Guillain Barre Syndrome, Ataxia, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Spasticity...
With the help of a multidisciplinary team, we decide the goals of the treatment. It might be to restore function, decrease pain, or delay the progression of the disease. For that, we use many specific techniques depending on each patient's needs.
Many people are unaware of Respiratory Physiotherapy, which is a group of techniques and exercises that aim to improve the respiratory system overall. It's used in many cases where the normal respiratory function is impaired due to disease or injury.
Pediatric physiotherapy is used to assess, identify, diagnose and treat impairments within the pediatric population (infants~up to age 19) in the areas of orthopedics, congenital malformations, developmental delay, neurology, neuro-psychiatry, breathing and pre-maturity.
Dry needling is a safe technique for treating many musculoskeletal conditions, including trigger points, shoulder pain, tendinitis, low back pain, tennis elbow, neck pain, headaches, muscle strains, hip pain, temporomandibular pain (TMJ). It can be performed all over the body. When dry needling is applied to an affected muscle or trigger point, it can decrease muscle tightness, increase blood flow and reduce pain. Patients often report immediate relief after treatment. The needles remain in your muscle for a short period of time (between 10 seconds and 20 minutes). This depends on the treatment location, number of needles used and treatment goals.
Massage therapy is an ancient technique that can be applied in many cases. It helps in relieving tension in specific muscles that had built up due to injury or stress, it gets the blood flowing which speeds up the recovery process, and it increases elasticity of muscles and skin. It can be used on scars to prevent or treat adhesion and pain.
You can also book a full body massage session which constitutes of relaxing massage techniques that are different from therapeutic massage. Full body massage sessions cost more than regular PT. For more information, don't hesitate to contact us.
Cupping:
Cupping therapy (Hijama) is one of the oldest and most effective methods of releasing the toxins from body tissue and organs. Enhanced blood flow under the cups draws impurities and toxins away from the nearby tissues and organs towards the surface for elimination.
Dry cupping is popular in western medicine. The air inside a plastic or glass cup is suctioned or vacuumed out after placing the cup on the skin.
Wet cupping / Hijama / Bleeding: We create mild suction by leaving a cup in place for about 3 minutes. We then remove the cup and use a small scalpel to make light, tiny cuts on your skin. Next, we do a second suction to draw out a small quantity of blood. Hijama is best performed on 17th, 19th or 21st day of the Islamic lunar month. You must not eat 3-4 hours before the procedure. and you must not do any physical exertion or sweat for 24-48 hours after the procedure.
Cupping sessions are priced at 5$ for dry cupping, and 15$ for wet cupping.
Exercise Therapy:
We offer continued guided exercise therapy programs, along with special exercise and fitness classes. Classes are aimed at flexibility and pain prevention, like yoga classes, and are available for all ages. We also offer advanced functional exercise programs for athletes. A part of our treatment is a home exercise program that will be given to patients upon discharge to help them maintain the improvement the acquired, prevent regression, and keep them in a good health.
Vestibular rehab:
Problems with the inner ear canal might cause dizziness, loss of balance, and thus a risk on well-being. Vestibular rehabilitation therapy is an exercise-based treatment program designed to enhance gaze stability, enhance postural stability and balance, improve vertigo, and improve independence in daily activities.
Kinesiotaping:
At the injury site there is extra blood and lymph under the skin which causes pain receptors to fire, creating pain. Kinesiotape is an elastic tape that lifts the skin which allows blood and lymph at the injury site to disperse, reducing pain. Kinesiotape also supports muscles, improves kinaesthetic awareness (awareness of body in space), helps to position muscles and joints, reduces over-stretching of muscles, allows range of movement, and reduces inflammation. That way you can continue to exercise while protecting your joints, ligaments, and muscles.
Kinesiotaping can benefit many conditions such as: Herniated disc, Muscle injuries, Sciatica, Plantar fasciitis, Shoulder impingement, Tennis/Golfers elbow, Ankle sprain, Knee pain...
