As I was searching for schools to pursue doctoral education in finance, I wish there was some website that gives a summary of things to prepare myself. What I have here are based on my experience and personal observations, which are gained through my experience at Brigham Young University (BYU). Dr. Kieth Vorkink at BYU has helped BYU students over the years to prepare students for PhD education (I will post his old website in useful website page). Dr. Jim Brau at BYU also shared a lot of information, added to Dr. Vorkink's website/PowerPoint presentation. It is important for you to take your time to do your homework instead of fully relying on my opinions or your adviser's personal view while they may be useful. I hope is that I can share any insights I have, so that you can use the information here to enhance your research of PhD programs in finance and make a smart decision for your future.
