Professional Development: Sessions & Share Sites
Presenter & Trainer
Designing and delivering engaging and responsive professional development for educators is something that I have enjoyed doing for the last ten years. When I left my English Language Arts classroom seven years ago, I wanted to devote my energies to improving what professional learning can look like for teachers.
My experience as a certified Abydos trainer and district digital learning specialist gave me both research and technology-based tools to use with educators. And, my experiences creating and delivering personalized professional learning for many districts when I was at ESC Region 11 broadened my understanding of action-based and data-driven professional learning. Serving as the Secondary English Language Arts Coordinator in McKinney ISD during the adoption of new RLA TEKS allowed me to support and grow teachers using data, sound pedagogy, and job-embedded professional development in a district setting.

Resource Curation Sites
With all of the work I was doing on the 2017 ELAR TEKS at ESC11, I decided to collect everything into an online space (smore.com) to share with ELAR teachers and curriculum statewide. I have done the same thing with my STAAR Redesign resources. Recently, I began working on a more user-friendly share site using Google Sites. Teachers who want to receive weekly email updates from me, subscribe on my Google Site. I currently have over 500 Texas teachers subscribed to my free Friday resource updates.
