Episode 3: The Fallout recounts the aftermath of the Suffolk University Board of Trustees' removal of Gleason Archer from his leadership position at institution. In it, we also discuss Archer's return to the university for two speeches 8 years after his departure. The episode concludes with an examination of Suffolk University's deliberate effort to erase its founder from its history and the legacy that Gleason Archer ultimately left behind.

"Blest Be the Blueberries" is an editorial that Gleason Archer wrote for the newspaper, The Silver Lake, that was published on April 4, 1957. Archer wrote the editorial about a year after delivering his "50 Years of Suffolk University" and "How Suffolk University Was Captured" speeches. In the article, he explains his course of action following the Board of Trustees' termination of him as President of Suffolk University.

"Fifty Years of Suffolk University" is a speech that Gleason Archer delivered to the university's alumni banquet on April 5, 1956 during the 50th anniversary of the school. The exact copy of the speech used in our research is a transcribed first draft and contains original pen annotations by Archer. Despite being a preliminary draft, Archer inscribed minimal to no annotations regarding his off-topic rant about being ousted and the final speech contained no substantive changes to this part of the oration.

"How Suffolk University Was Captured" is a speech that Gleason Archer delivered to the Suffolk University Wig and Robe Society on April 30, 1956. For our research we examined and referenced a pamphlet version of the speech. In the speech, Archer provides a step-by-step process of how the Board of Trustees took over the university and then removed him from hist presidential post in 1948.

Suffolk University: A Centennial History, 1905-2010 is a historical account written by David Robbins and Laurie Umansky that describes the over one-hundred-year history of Suffolk University. The book begins with the founding of the law school, then it explains the history of each sect of the university, such as the College of Arts and Science or the Business School, and concludes with a description of the modern state of the institution. The book offers a comprehensive recount of Gleason Archer’s founding of the school but also his problems with the Board of Trustees and gives a detailed account of the circumstances of his ousting.
