Our clients purchased a beautiful 4 bedroom property in Heriot Row that had been already been developed by developers. They approached us to decorate and furnish it in a style that reflected their love of colour, travel and sense of fun. It was a wonderful project to work on.
The space required a small amount of reconfiguring in order to increase storage and create a space for a home office. We took what was a rather wasted room in the centre of the apartment, dividing it into two. One part became wardrobes that are accessible from the bedroom and the remaining part became the home office.
This stunning 2 bed, 2 bath flat in Edinburgh’s West End was bought by our clients as a pied a terre and they engaged LWI to help transform it into their home from home. It required a full refurb including a re-wire and re-plumb, 2 new bathrooms, a new kitchen, a new fireplace and a complete redecorate.
The drawing room is very large and how to best use the space required careful thought. We designed a huge corner shelving unit down one end to zone the room and to create a cosy dining area whilst the other end remained as a comfy and sociable seating area around the fireplace.
We worked in close collaboration with our clients on all the details to ensure that the finished result was exactly as they hoped. I am happy to say that they were delighted with the result.
This beautiful and quirky apartment in an old mansion in the countryside outside Edinburgh was both a challenge and a joy to work on. A joy because our client had a clear vision of how she wanted her home to look and feel and we worked in happy collaboration to create the home of her dreams. A challenge because it ran over the lengthy lockdown period so the majority of our sourcing and our communication was carried out online.
I established Lally Walford Interiors about 15 years ago, having worked in the interiors industry since early 2000. I grew up in an interior design environment – my mother has run a successful interior design business since before I can remember – and, having worked for a few years in London at an advertising agency, I decided to train properly in interior design and commit to what I suspected that I had always wanted to do. I have worked in London, Sydney and North Yorkshire and, following our move to Scotland in 2005, have established a wonderful, loyal and ever-increasing client base both here and further afield.
