Who is Alikiba?

Alikiba is an award winning singer, songwriter and performer from Tanzania. He is regarded as one of the greatest cultural icons in Tanzania. He was born in November 1986 in Kigoma Tanzania, but mostly grew up in Dar Es Salaam.

The Kigoma native is known for his vocal prowess and songwriting skills that have earned him hit songs such as Cinderella, Aje and Bwana Mdogo. From the beginning of his career, he established himself as a hard core Bongo Fleva artist, who rarely adopts to other genres.

Alikiba Breakthrough and Journey

Alikiba started singing at the age 7. However, it was until he was 14 years that he started writing his own songs. He started doing music professionally in 2005 and later released his first song dubbed Maria. In 2007, he released his debut single dubbed Cinderella. The album's lead single 'Cinderella' became a mega hit and made him a household name.

The album and the lead single topped charts not only in Tanzania but also in other countries such as Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda and Rwanda. 15 years since its debut, the entire Cinderella project is still considered one of the best albums in Bongo. The long break forced fans to initiate a campaign aimed to bring back Alikiba to the entertainment industry. In 2014, he signed to Rockstar 4000 and bounced back with Mwana a song that was well received by fans. Through Rockstar 4000, the talented African musician released many hit such as; Aje, Chekecha, Seduce Me and Lupela among others. It is at this point that reportsof the alleged beef between him and Diamond Platnumz comenced. In 2018, he left Rockstar 4000 and started Kings Music. He signed his young brother Abdu Kiba, K2ga, Killy and Cheed. The last two, however, recently left the label and joined Harmonize's Konde Gang.

In October 2021, he released his third album dubbed 'Only One King' that broke many records in Tanzania and the entire East African region.
