Charles spent nearly ten years as an Air Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) tech and another eleven years as an instructor at the military’s EOD training facility. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Business, a Master’s degree in Homeland Security, and has considerable counter Weapons of Mass Destruction experience. While Charles still occasionally provides freelance curriculum development to the military, he has moved on to being an artist and author full time. Recently he became a certified EMT in order to provide aid, along with his wife who is a Nurse Practitioner, during natural disasters.

Together they have raised two amazing children. Elijah and Hannah both attend universities and are collegiate runners studying physical therapy and engineering respectively. When Elijah began losing teeth Misti made him a Tooth Ogre to guard his tooth thru the night. It was this stuffed ogre that inspired Charles to research the lost tooth traditions of other countries and cultures. Charles wrote the Legend of the Tooth Ogre for his son and daughter who continue to inspire him to this day.

Giving back is very important to the Schneidewinds. They started a nonprofit, Project I’Mpossible, to help serve their community and they have extensive experience in fund raising and countless volunteer initiatives. The Schneidewind family loves to see and do. They have swam with sea turtles in Hawaii’s reefs, off roaded through remote areas in Moab, hiked Zion’s narrows, rappelled down waterfalls in Maui & into caves in Puerto Rico, skied in the Bavarian Alps, placed a 30A sticker at the highest point in Germany, learned to make pasta with a chef in Venice, paddle boarded in the Bahamas, snorkeled with manatees in Florida’s springs, hung out at music festivals in Montreal, sailed thru new England, stargazed in Acadia, stood in awe of redwoods, and they cannot wait for their next adventures.
