@UR 2024 – 21st International Conference on Ubiquitous Robots
Organizer: Dr. Xie Zhen, Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Singapore
Date, Time and Location: Monday 24 June, 2 pm – 5 pm @ KC 909
Objectives: In the rapidly evolving field of robotics, artificial intelligence (AI) plays a pivotal role in enhancing capabilities and expanding the scope of applications. This workshop aims to delve into the integration of AI in robotics, addressing both current challenges and future prospects. Participants will gain insights into how AI techniques, such as machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing, are revolutionizing robotic systems across various industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, and autonomous vehicles. The workshop will cover key challenges such as data acquisition and processing, real-time decision-making, safety, and ethical considerations. It will also explore advancements in AI algorithms, sensor technology, and computational power that are driving the next generation of intelligent robots. Through a series of expert talks, hands-on sessions, and interactive discussions, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge research and practical applications, fostering a deeper understanding of how AI can be harnessed to overcome current limitations and unlock new possibilities in robotic applications.
Case Study: Automatic robotic toolpath generation (ARTG) systems are a class of robotic systems aimed at generating customized patterns of robotic trajectories and toolpath to automate several industrial contact processes such as polishing and masking, or non-contact processes, such as painting and blasting. ARTG systems are especially valuable in automating industrial processes that require high precision, repetitive, or labor-intensive. ARTG systems face challenges when CAD data for the manufacturing object/workpiece is either not available or inaccurate. Automated robotic toolpath generation plays a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency and precision of robotic systems across various domains such as manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics. This workshop/tutorial proposal aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest techniques, algorithms, and applications in automated robotic toolpath generation. The workshop will include software demonstrations and case studies to demonstrate the practical implementation and benefits of automated toolpath generation in real-world scenarios.
