[About Anthony]
Hi, I'm Anthony Pivarunas, a geoscientist with a focus on paleomagnetism, numerical methods, geochronology, and field geology. My research involves the extraction of magnetic data from rocks, which provide information about the ancient magnetic field on Earth, the positioning of continents, major Earth history events, the movement of rocks, the eruption of ancient volcanoes, and so much more!
I am a Research Geophysicist with the California Volcano Observatory in the Volcano Science Center of the United States Geological Survey (USGS). I also work on various other projects, including the PNW Mapping project in the GMEG Science Center.
Before, I was a visiting assistant professor at the University of Florida. Check out the UF Geological Sciences department webpage, they're still doing great things in teaching and research.
I contribute to the open source software Python software package PmagPy and do other things on my Github.
I received my PhD at the University of Florida in 2019 (advised by Dr. Joe Meert). I received my undergraduate degree in geophysics from the State University of New York College at Geneseo in 2015 (advised by Dr. Scott Giorgis).
If you want to get in touch with me, perhaps with a scientific query or to encourage me to make holes in a particular outcrop, I'm responsive over email: apiv93(at)gmail(dot)com
