Making Sawdust Carpets is a feature in Guatemala for Holy Week or the Patron Saint Festivals of towns and villages, when processions are held.
The carpets are made from wet sawdust, flowers, and fruits.
Each carpet meticulously made with everyone from young to old helping.
This Guatemalan tradition has its origins in pre-Hispanic times and thanks to Spanish chroniclers of the 16th century and written indigenous testimonies, it is known that lords and priests walked in certain ceremonies on carpets of flowers, pine and feathers of precious birds such as the quetzal. , the macaw and the hummingbird
In Hispanic Guatemala the Franciscans, who were in charge of most of the evangelization in Guatemala, maintained the tendency to favor popular religiosity, among them is Brother Pedro de Betancourt, who was originally from Villa Flor, Tenerife, brought some of the Canarian traditions

On March 17, 2020, the strip in Las Vegas was left without people after orders went out for everyone to stay home because of the pandemic.
Having visited Vegas some years earlier, I revisited Las Vegas for a couple of days in early May 2020.
The difference was stark. Gone were the people, the noise, the lights, the laughter, the smiles that told you someone won, and the sullen faces that told you the casino won. Instead, the streets were eerily empty and quiet, with empty casinos and hotels lining the strip.
Neon signs offering cheap drinks and endless entertainment now flickered dimly, instead flashing 'STAY SAFE AND WE'LL GET THOUUGH THIS TOGETHER'', a stark reminder of the bustling city that once was. The only sounds to be heard were the occasional sirens in the distance.and a heavy sense of emptiness that hung in the air.
A few souls walked the streets, some wearing masks, some not. No conversations were overheard, just a quiet solitude that enveloped the once lively streets.
