I am a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at the University of California, Merced. My research spans two interrelated areas. First, I study how psychological motivations and cognitive processes shape behavior in social and ethical contexts. Second, I examine how cognitive complexity influences incentives and behavior, particularly in rhetoric and the generation and discovery of ideas. My work combines theory and laboratory experiments and draws on interdisciplinary insights from cognitive science and political science.Â
In the past, I worked as an indie games developer and as a classroom instructor at 9 Dots, a non-profit dedicated to developing computer science education for K-12 public schools in the Los Angeles area. In my spare time, I enjoy designing and playing games of all sorts.
Update: I have accepted a position as a postdoctoral researcher at the State University of New York, Buffalo. My Job Market Paper is available here.
