Toni Kolade

About Me

I am an Electrical Engineering student at the University of Washington, Seattle, and also the Event Coordinator for the African Student Association on campus. I am passionate about promoting Black joy and amplifying the voices of Black students on campus, which led me to create a social media page for sharing resources and media content. I hope to empower and equip Black students with the tools they need to succeed academically and personally while fostering a sense of community and belonging. As an Electrical Engineering student, I enjoy delving deeper into the field of technology and developing my skills and abilities alongside like-minded individuals.

Core Values

For most of my life, I have been guided by a set of core values that shape who I am as a person. These values include education, insightfulness, cooperation, loyalty, and inspiration. By staying true to these values, I have been able to navigate difficult situations, build strong relationships, and achieve my goals. Each of these values plays an important role in my life and helps me to live with purpose and integrity. below, I will explore each of these values in more detail and explain how they have impacted my personal and professional life.


Education: Education is not just about acquiring knowledge and skills, but it is also about developing critical thinking, creativity, and curiosity. To me, education is about constantly improving myself, broadening my horizons, and gaining new perspectives. It has helped me become more adaptable, resourceful, and confident in my abilities.


Insightfulness: To be insightful is to have a deeper understanding of the people and situations around me. It involves being aware of my own biases and limitations and being able to empathize with others. Having this value has helped me in my personal and professional relationships by allowing me to connect with others on a deeper level, anticipate their needs, and collaborate more effectively.


Cooperation: Cooperation is about working together towards a common goal. It involves being open-minded, respectful, and supportive of others. This value has helped me in my career as I work on various teams, allowing me to contribute my strengths while valuing and incorporating the contributions of others. It has also helped me in my personal relationships, as I recognize the importance of compromise and collaboration in building strong connections with others.


Loyalty: Loyalty to me means standing by someone through thick and thin, being trustworthy and dependable, and valuing the relationships in my life. It has helped me in my personal relationships by building deeper connections with others, and in my career by cultivating a sense of trust and reliability with colleagues and clients.


Inspiration: Inspiration is about being a positive force in the lives of others. It involves setting a positive example through my actions, encouraging others to reach their goals, and spreading positivity wherever I go. This value has helped me personally by motivating me to achieve my own goals and by providing a sense of purpose and fulfillment in helping others.


Overall, these core values have helped me stay true to myself and my beliefs, navigate difficult situations, and make decisions that align with my priorities and goals. They have provided a framework for me to live my life with purpose and integrity.

As a leader, I believe in serving the greater good and inspiring others to be their best selves. My unique leadership identities reflect my commitment to making a positive impact and creating a supportive and effective team environment.



Initiator and Supporter advocate: I am driven to take initiative and make a change through selfless acts of service. As a leader, I prioritize the needs of others and aim to inspire others to follow my lead.


Team Player Leader: I believe in the power of collaboration and value the perspectives and contributions of individual team members. As a collaborative leader, I enjoy sharing power, information, and resources with others to create a supportive and effective team environment.


Empowerer and Advocate Communicator: I am passionate about inspiring and motivating others to be their best selves and achieve their goals. As a transformational leader, I set a positive example and create a work environment that promotes growth and development.


Team Supporter and Loyalist: I am fiercely committed to my team and prioritize their well-being above all else. As a leader who values loyalty, I am willing to make sacrifices and compromises for the greater good and support my team members through all challenges.

I am passionate about empowering my community by providing them with the knowledge and resources they need to thrive. I believe that by sharing this information, we can work together to create a better future for all.

FUTURE PLANS FOR LEADERSHIP

As I look toward the future, I envision myself engaging in leadership roles that align with my core values and unique leadership identities. I want to prioritize continuous education and be an initiator and supporter advocate, taking the initiative to make a change and prioritize the needs of others. As a team player leader, I will value the perspectives of others and understand the value of teamwork. I want to spread black joy and black accomplishment, be an empowering and advocating communicator, and inspire and motivate others to be their best selves and achieve their goals. Finally, I want to be a loyal leader, prioritizing the well-being of my team members and making sacrifices to ensure their success. By embodying these values and identities, I hope to make a positive impact on my community and be part of a positive change that will make history.
