Composer
I compose music for traditional Western instruments in ensembles of various size — the larger the better. I believe the best art can be appreciated on many different levels, and I want my music to reach people both emotionally and intellectually. I try to make each piece I write a new exploration, different from everything I’ve written previously.
With the majority of my time devoted to my professional existence as a scientist, I’m very interested in aspects of the art-science interface, and I often find artistic inspiration in my scientific work. But only some of my music is about that.
On this website I’ll be sharing some music, some thoughts about music — and maybe some music about thought. If any of these resonate with you, feel free to write to me.
