I am a father, husband, service-oriented person who works hard at every thing I do. My family moved to Montana when I was three. My father was an active-duty service member with the United States Army and was stationed at Malmstrom AFB until his retirement. I attended Loy Elementary, Riverview Elementary, North Junior High School and C.M. Russell High School.
Immediately after high school, I joined the United States Army as a Reconnaissance Specialist. I served overseas and was stationed in Europe for my first duty station. I served during Operation Desert Storm and witnessed the collapse of the Soviet Union and the fall of the Berlin Wall. I served my remaining military career stationed out of Fort Stewart GA, where I separated after nine years of service. It was while stationed in GA, where I met my wife of nearly 30 years, Laura. She too was serving in the Army. While in the military I attended Central Texas College, pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice.
After separating from the military, I pursued a career in law enforcement, serving 6 years with the Dekalb County Police in Atlanta, GA. Intending on raising a family, we returned home to Montana. There is no other place I would have rather chose to raise my children. Both my son and daughter attended Riverview Elementary, North Middle School and C.M. Russell High School. Both my children attended Montana State University in Bozeman. My daughter has since enlisted in the United States Navy and my son in the United States Army.
I spent 20 years as a police officer with the Great Falls Police Department, retiring as a Patrol Sergeant. During my law enforcement career, I served as a patrol officer, detective, narcotics officer and a Task Force Officer with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.
What have I done?
Not only have I served in a uniform for our communities and nation for over 35 years, but I have volunteered in a uniform for numerous organizations. Since 2010, I have been a registered Scouter with Scouting America (BSA), serving as a scout leader, teacher, trainer and mentor. I coached Riverside Little League Baseball, YMCA football and Salvation Army basketball. I have helped organize community events and I support the Performing Arts for the Great Falls Public Schools. I served as a committee member and Chairman for the Big Sky ProRodeo Roundup in Great Falls. I served as the Chairman of the Cascade County Republican Central Committee in 2012 and served as a member of the Great Falls Pachyderm club. I was elected as a Precinct Captain for House District 25 from 2008-2012.
