Go to iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → make sure Told is toggled on. Also check Settings → Privacy & Security → Speech Recognition. If it's still not working, close the app fully and reopen it.
iCloud sync requires you to be signed into the same Apple ID on all devices. Go to iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → make sure iCloud Drive is on. In Told, open Settings → iCloud Sync to see the current sync status. Sync can take a few minutes on first launch.
App Lock activates the next time you leave and return to the app. Close Told from the app switcher and reopen it — Face ID should appear. Make sure Face ID is set up in iPhone Settings → Face ID & Passcode.
Open Told → Settings → Language → choose the language you want to speak in. The mic will use that language for transcription. If a language isn't working, make sure it's downloaded in iPhone Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards.
On the main journal screen, long-press any memory card to reveal the context menu, then tap Delete. You can also open a memory and use the delete option from the detail view. Deleted memories are removed immediately — there is no trash or undo.
Go to Settings → Export Memories. Choose a time range (today, this week, this month, all time, or a custom date range) and tap Export. A plain text file is generated on-device and shared via the iOS share sheet — save it anywhere you like.
No. Told has no servers, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, and no crash reporting. Everything you write stays on your device. iCloud sync is handled entirely by Apple's encrypted CloudKit — we never see your data.
Local data is removed when you delete the app. If you had iCloud sync enabled, your memories are preserved in your iCloud account and will restore automatically if you reinstall Told and sign in with the same Apple ID.
Make sure notifications are enabled: iPhone Settings → Notifications → Told → Allow Notifications. Also check that you've toggled Evening Reminder on inside Told → Settings → Daily Habit, and that the time is set correctly.
The On This Day widget shows a memory from the same calendar day in a previous year. If you haven't been using Told for at least a year yet, the widget will show a placeholder. It refreshes once per day at midnight.
