Prepare your Scanner (HP Photosmart Plus)

• Clean the surface
• Align the sheet edges
• Press down with weights

Configure Scan Software (HP Scan Extended)

• Resolution: 600 dpi
• Color: Grayscale
• Format: PNG
• Lighting: 60
• Contrast: 35
• Midtone: -100

Open with Photoshop (Adobe PhotoShop CC 2015)

• Rotate if necessary (Image > Rotate)
• Crop (M > C > Enter)
• Change Page size (ctrl + alt + C)
  • A4 = 21 x 29.7
  • Letter = 8.5 x 11

Edit and Clean up (Photoshop)

• Zoom in (alt + scroll)
• Brush over smudges (B > D > X > alt+rightclick)
• Fill in Shadows ( G > X)
• Copy (M > ctrl+C > ctrl+D > ctrl+V)
• Move (M > V)

Convert and Save (Photoshop)

• Layers > Reduce all to Background
• Image > Mode > Bitmap...
• Method > 50% (shadow to black or white)
• Redraw missing stems (U > D > shift)
  • Usually stems at corner with 5 pixel
• Save (ctrl+S, PNG)

Combine as PDF (Adobe Acrobat XI Pro)

• Select all PNGs
• Rightclick > Merge with Acrobat
• Tools > Text Recognition
• Bookmarks > Add titles
• File > Properties
  • Opening view > show bookmarks
• Save (ctrl+S)
