With “quality of life” (QOL) as the overarching theme, this seminar seeks to address the role and efficacy of international development assistance in relation to realizing the sustainable development goals (SDG’s) in developing countries. Focusing primarily on Africa, the seminar will examine UN, Danish and Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) policies and practices, include their respective strategies and intended outcomes. In extension, this will lead to a wider discussion of the UN framework for development aid and whether it effectively achieves the projected long-term goals and contributes to increased QOL in recipient countries.
