The rental fee is $20 for each plot.
A small garden shed filled with tools to borrow is available to all registered gardeners.
Water and garden hoses are provided at the site.

The garden coordinator is a volunteer leadership role that helps keep the Glencoe Community Gardens running smoothly throughout the growing season. This position focuses on light touch coordination, communication, and care for the shared spaces. It is ideal for someone who enjoys gardening, connecting with people, and nurturing a community resource. The role can remain simple or grow based on the coordinator’s passions and interests.
The garden coordinator will be given use of one plot free of charge for the season!
Serve as Main Point of Contact
Respond to basic questions from gardeners and potential gardeners (email or text).
Welcome new gardeners and help them understand garden guidelines and shared expectations.
Coordinate Plot Assignments
Collect plot fees and signed paperwork, including agreement and waiver.
Maintain a simple list of who is gardening each plot.
Support Garden Operations
Ensure shared tools, hoses, and common areas are tidy and in working condition.
Alert the Together We Are Glencoe group if anything needs repair or replenishment.
Light mowing/weed whipping around garden plots.
Facilitate Seasonal Kickoff & Wrap Up
Help organize a spring orientation and fall clean up day (very lightweight; think reminders + showing up).
Share start of season and end of season communications with gardeners.
Communicate with the Together We Are Glencoe group
Provide occasional updates and attend brief check ins as needed (usually seasonal).
These are not required—just possibilities for someone who loves community building or garden fun.
Host small gatherings, like a mid summer potluck or informal weeding party.
Plan educational moments: composting demo, seed swap, or youth activity.
Create simple communications, such as a monthly email with tips or updates.
Lead small beautification projects, like pollinator beds or signage improvements.
Coordinate shared donations of extra produce to local food shelves.
Build partnerships with local schools, clubs, or garden groups.
Track garden improvements and help shape the vision for future seasons.
Average: 2–4 hours per month during the growing season
Peak times: April/May & September/October
Flexible and volunteer-driven—can be done on your own schedule.
Friendly, responsive, and comfortable communicating with a small group.
Enjoys gardening (expertise not required!)
Organized enough to track basic info.
