the most well-renowned gentleman thief, arsène lupin. every bit of criminal as in the novels by maurice leblanc, that even now it's said that there are rooms that houses his various treasures that he's taken from not only the servants around chaldea, but from the lost belts and singularities. nothing will stop the thief from continuing to add to his collection. for most of these items, he would consider 'his' — for many of these treasures, he even thinks of the act of stealing is merely returning the items back to their owner.

the man of a thousand disguises, the gentleman thief that gained popularity in france beginning in 1905. in turn a chauffeur, ténor, bookmaker, russian physician, spanish bullfighter, commercial traveler, robust youth, or decrepit old man. a reversal of the popular detective stories that were occurring at the time — as arsène is the criminal.
when reading the novels, part of the suspense is that no one knows who Lupin may be: a side character? rhe assistant? perhaps the narrator? there are extremely few that are capable of seeing through his disguises; except for the most renowned consulting detective of england.
