To join a shared List [or to re-join if you accidentally click "Leave List" and lose access] simply follow these instructions.
Each of the following links relate to a shared List that is owned and administered by the Gmail user teach.CFSC@gmail.com.
Click any of them to join [or re-join] an individual List, then follow the on-screen instructions.
Each will appear down the left hand side under “My Day” and “To Do” from where they can be re-ordered by dragging to the desired position.
Occasionally the 'Sync' process can fail and leave differences across devices.
If you ever need to check you can see what is going on by ....
1/. clicking on your name [top left corner]
2/. selecting "Settings" from the drop down menu that is displayed
3/. scrolling down to bottom half of the next page to see "Sync" status. If it has failed you can click button to restart it.
Have noticed that it seems to take a while when doing the 'Shared' folders - maybe there is quite a lot of work going on in the background when syncing the site with PC's and smartphones ??
A 'tag' is a sequence of characters starting with the # character [which is used by the App to identify a string of characters as a tag] followed by any string of characters and a space that you choose to uniquely identify a subject.
You can use tags in the shared "Club" Lists as well as in your own private "Personal" Lists that are not shared.
Club Lists and name #tags .... [used only in Note titles]
These #tags are used temporarily for new articles to bring them to everyone’s attention by showing their name ** and are usually placed at the end of the text displayed in the title box.
** e.g. #bill #dave #norm #phil
All entries with the same #tag can be easily selected by simply clicking on any instance of the #tag which instructs the To-Do App to bring them all together in the central viewing panel.
For example if Bill clicks on any instance of #bill then all other entries containing the same tag will be selected and displayed.
After you've read a 'Club' entry and are no longer interested in it simply remove your tag [e.g. #bill] and it will no longer show up in any subsequent name searches made. The entries will of course remain visible to others who have not yet removed their own name tags.
By using the above method the overall number of active tags will be kept to a minimum.
As everyone removes their individual name #tag from the title box, leaving only the single #phil, it can be reviewed.
After a joint review at a meeting the decision as to what to do with each entry can be decided :-
1. carried forward [by doing nothing]
2. deleted completely [by Phil]
3. moved to another suitable List [by agreement]
4. optionally given a personal tag [by individuals]
Personalised tags
Anyone can use personal tags for notes stored in the 'Club' Lists. It is best to place them near the top of the body area [and not in the title box as this looks messy] so that they visibly stand out when opened and we can all respect each others tags and not delete them inadvertently. The tags can also be used in private notes.
Use these tags whenever you want to flag entries you are interested in by adding a personal #yourinitialsref tag.
e.g. #pfref #dsgref #nkref #wkaref etc.
It’s best to avoid using a personal tag that starts with the same characters as a 'Club’ tag as it can be confusing. For example #philref would get selected when searching for just #phil so by using a unique sequence like initials and reference #pfref it is a much better.
Extending Personalised Tags
You can take the use of tags further by using other personalised tags to create something unique that identifies you and your topic of interest.
For example something like #pfcar can be created to link together similar entries for Phil on the topic of ‘car’.
This will work across all Notes [both 'Club' Lists or 'Personal' Lists] and some further examples could be for things like "Cars" using #pfcar, "Expenses" using #pfexp, "Holidays"using #pfhols, "Insurances" using #pfins etc.etc.
So just to be clear, if you want to consolidate entries on your screen just click on a single instance of any tag and all other matching tags will be retrieved and displayed in the central viewing panel where they appear beneath the List names where they are located.
