Cades Cove in Tennessee is a 11-mile valley in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park renowned for its rich Appalachian history, featuring preserved 19th-century churches, cabins, and a working gristmill. Originally a Cherokee hunting ground, it became a permanent European settlement in the 1820s, evolving into a thriving community of hundreds before becoming a protected historical area in the 1930s.
