I'm only a day late!Â
It's October which means it's Breast Cancer Awareness month. This is a time that many people don't enjoy - I'm not too worried. There's a lot of pink - I don't mind the pink but we must remember that there is nothing pretty and pink about breast cancer. It is a vile disease; however - I feel that this month is absolutely necessary in order to raise awareness so that early detection is promoted and if that means using pink, then that is what should happen.
I have four Public Health Talks booked, all online. I'm also going to Asda in Folkestone this Saturday and Sunday to support the Tickled Pink campaign. The following Saturday, I'm going to be one of a number of people supporting a healthcare professional at an event in New Romney. I'm going to have a Breast Cancer Now stall with lots of information available. There are two Cancer in Common events this month and a half term!Â
However, today, I was at the PEN25 awards - The Picker Experience Network. The Kent and Medway Cancer Alliance 'Limbo Land' video was shortlisted/was a finalist in the Personalisation of Care category. To be a finalist is amazing - we didn't win; that went to the Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance for their patient storytelling - amazing! What I will say is that there are some incredible projects happening around the UK and it was a privilege to have been able to listen to so many wonderful things.

It's been quite a busy month. I've delivered four Breast Cancer Now public health talks, spent a few hours in Asda for Tickled Pink, and had some Breast Cancer Now resources at an event run by a local GP surgery. I had my nails done especially for this month. I'm getting quite fond of having French tips.
Last weekend, I went to a Cancer In Common fundraising event in Brixton. That was great fun. I do love a train journey to London. It was a bit strange not having any alcohol but it really does make me feel unwell now so it just isn't worth the hassle.
Yesterday, I went to a Christmas party in Hastings for Jules Fielder. Again, that was fabulous fun. Some of the photos in the carousels below were not taken by me but are too fabulous to not be included.
