It's the first of the month again. TIME TO CHECK THOSE CHESTS AND PECS EVERYONE!
I'm also starting a month's worth of walking for Breast Cancer Now. The challenge is to walk 100 miles in the month of October. Last year, I did the same but for Cancer Research UK.

If you'd like to make a donation, the link is above.
£150 could help 5 people affected by breast cancer get vital answers by calling their helpline. £800 could pay for 8 people to go to Living with Secondary Breast Cancer. These sessions are a space for people with incurable secondary breast cancer to get expert information and meet people who understand.

On Friday, I was able to share some of my cancer story through an Instagram Live session with Jo, @tit_less_wonder. The link to the reel is here: Instagram Live with Jo
Yesterday, Saturday, mum and I went to Asda in Ashford to help fout with Tickled Pink. It is about raising awareness of breast cancer and also raising funds for both Breast Cancer Now and Coppa Feel. We had a great day and the Community Champion had organised it well. Although there were only three of us volunteering, it seemed we were able to raise a fair bit. I did feel a little out of my comfort zone wearing a pink tutu, pink gloves and pink leg warmers, it was a great few hours. I'll happily do that again next year.
Today, I met with a group of fantastic ladies who all have one thing in common - cancer. We had a walk along Dover Seafront and talked. It was brilliant to be with people who completely understood what this whole shit situation is like. We are all at different stages in our diagnosis/treatment or recovery. I know I found it hugely beneficial to be able to do this. Other than sitting in the chemotherapy unit, I haven't physically met lots of people who have had or have cancer. In a couple of weeks time, I'll be spending a Saturday in London at an event called Cancer in Common where, as you can guess, everyone has cancer in common. I'm excited to go as I'll be meeting with someone I have spoken to lots on Instagram over the past few months and we'll finally get to meet. Some of the lovely ladies I met today will also be going. I can't wait! 😁
The 100 mile walking challenge is also going well. So far, I have walked 20.62 miles and had generous donations totalling £180. I think I'm on target for reaching 100 miles in October but days like I have tomorrow make it difficult. I'm at three schools throughout the day and then need to write everything up. By the time that is done, it'll be dark. Tuesday isn't much better! I may have to go out in the dark, which I don't like doing, in order to keep up. I have 'banked' a few miles from September 'just in case'. We'll have to see how it goes.

I have a couple of updates. On Saturday, I went to an event in London called Cancer In Common. It was at a venue called Eastcheap Records and the ticket was free. It was an incredible afternoon. I was in a room full of people who have all had or have cancer. It didn't matter that I didn't really know anyone as I was made to feel exceptionally welcome. I travelled up with Jo, Lisa, Nick and Terry and then met with Rachel, someone I have been speaking to on Instagram and spent four hours talking to her and drinking cocktails. It was the most incredible place to be and will definitely be going to next year's one. I am very much looking forward to Cancer In Common Kent Style. Jo is hosting this in Folkestone and again, the ticket is free.
I made an Instagram reel with my photos. Just follow the link.
Also, I have applied to be a Public Health Volunteer with Breast Cancer Now. If I am successful in my informal interview on Tuesday, I will be asked to visit groups of people who have requested a talk to raise breast awareness. This is a very exciting opportunity but it is whether I am able to do it as I work full-time. We shall see.
