TIPPECANOE MIDDLE SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY ON SUMMER READING

Summer reading is essential to sustaining academic gains made by students during the school year. When examining the value of reading, research shows that choice and volume of reading are essential to a child's reading development. The Tipp City school district values our students' passion for reading so we will provide an additional opportunity this summer for our students to grow in their literacy development.

All TMS students entering grades 6, 7, and 8 are required to read 1 book of their choice over the summer. When students return to school in August, they will be given class time to work on a project; there will be several options for students to showcase their learning. All projects, which are 35-point assignments, will be due on September 2nd.

If students need assistance selecting a book, they may choose from the selected texts on this site. (Please see our grade level book lists at the top of the page.) Books are available at the Tipp City Public Library, local bookstores, and Amazon. TMS will also offer book checkout before the end of school and eBooks through Destiny.

Thank you for your support of our summer learning program!
