Birmingham Airport

The most convenient airport for Leicester is Birmingham Airport. There a frequent train connections to Leicester via Birmingham New Street. Birmingham International Train Station is a two minute ride from the airport using the free Air-Rail Link Service. From Birmingham International get the train to Birmingham New Street. National Express runs a service between Birmingham Airport and Leicester but it is not direct. It is necessary to take the coach from the airport to Birmingham Coach Station (approximately 25 minutes) and then change to a bus to Leicester St Margaret’s Bus Station (approximately one hour).


East Midlands Airport

The nearest airport to Leicester is East Midlands Airport, which serves Leicester, Derby and Nottingham. The airport has direct flights to more than 90 destinations in 28 countries as well as many internal flights within the UK. The Leicester Skylink bus service connects East Midlands Airport with St Margaret's Bus Station, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.


London Luton Airport

The train between London Luton Airport and Leicester leaves from Luton Airport Parkway station. It is necessary to take a shuttle bus for the short journey between the airport and Luton Airport Parkway station. National Express runs a direct coach service from London Luton Airport to Leicester St Margaret’s Bus Station.


London Heathrow Airport

There is a train connection from London Heathrow Airport to Leicester. The journey involves travelling from the airport (all terminals) by Underground to King’s Cross / St Pancras station on the Piccadilly Line (approximately 1 hour) and then taking the train from St Pancras International station to Leicester. National Express runs a regular coach service from Heathrow Airport to Leicester St Margaret’s Bus Station. The journey takes longer than travelling by train (approximately three hours, could be longer when the traffic is busy) but has the advantage of being cheaper and goes direct from the airport to Leicester.


London Gatwick Airport

There is a train connection from London Gatwick Airport to Leicester. The journey involves travelling from the airport to London St Pancras International and then taking the train from St Pancras International station to Leicester. Times can be found here.

The journey takes longer than travelling by train (approximately four hours, but could be longer when the traffic is busy) but has the advantage of being cheaper and goes direct from the airport to Leicester.
