Trailer Buildout V.1.0

Note: Version 2.0 Buildout Now Available!

Trailer Buildout Steps

1. Design

Use the 3D model to redesign your TMC Lab and prepare parts for the CNC machine.

2. Manufacture

Using the 3D model or DXF files available below, nest the TMC parts on to 8 sheets of plywood.

3. Materials & Tools

Begin to organize buildout materials and tools using checklists provided below.

4. Learn

During the buildout, utilize the TMC Lab YouTube channel to follow a step by step tutorial.

Trailer Buildout Resources

1. 3-D Model

There are two options to view the 3-D Model:

  1. Use Onshape https://www.onshape.com/ . This is a cloud based 3-D modeling software that can be used on any computer in any location with a wifi connection. Once you create a free account, email us at labstmc@gmail.com and we will share the model with you via Onshape. The great thing about using this platform is that we can both view the TMC Lab model in real time and redesign it based off of your needs.

  2. Download the STEP files in the google drive folder below and open them in the CAD program of your choice.

Once you have the 3-D model up and running you can:

  1. Begin to redesign the trailer based off of your trailer dimensions, shelf dimensions, or specific needs.

  2. Extract the 3-D parts from the model and turn them into files for your CNC router.

2. DXF Files & Parts List

  1. Download all 35 DXF files below. Each one is a different part found in the TMC Lab. Upload these files onto your CNC software platform.

  2. Next download the CNC Parts List document. This will tell you how many of each part you will need. As the picture to the right shows, you will have multiples of each part.

  3. Lastly, nest all of the parts onto 4ft x 8ft sheets of plywood that are 5/8in thick. Total, you will have 103 parts nested onto approximately 8 sheets of plywood.

Note: this step can be bypassed if you use the 3D model!

3. Buildout Materials & Tools Lists

  1. When you are ready to begin putting the TMC Lab together you will need specific hardware that you can find at your local hardware store. On this list is the shelving unit system all past TMC Labs have been using. All of the TMC parts are designed to fit in this shelving unit so if you decide to use a different shelving unit system you will have to alter the parts in the 3D model.

  2. The tools list will outline all of the necessary equipment to put together the TMC Labs cabinets and shelving unit system.

4. Buildout Video

  1. The video to the right will show you the 11 step process to build out your TMC Lab. It will walk you through the estimated time needed for each step as well as the materials, tools, and parts needed.

  2. If you need further clarification on a step we have also developed the Assembly Guide document.
