Step 1: Come visit us!
Contact our Membership chair via our "Contact us" page here . Then check your email. Once you visit, is our troop right for you? If you feel we are, let our Membership chair know and we can get the process started.
Step 2: Registration is done online via Trail Life Connect.
Just ask our Membership Chair for an invitation to join—a link to complete that process will be emailed to you. TLUSA membership fee is $42.27 for Trailmen ($35.68 for Adults) with an annual renewal (good for one year from joining date). This fee is paid online at time of registration and goes directly to Trail Life USA.
(In line with one of Trail Life USA Core Values, "Volunteer Driven", we require that at least one adult from each family become a Registered Adult * AND volunteer for a position.
* Registered Adult | This position is for a registering parent or guardian who, while not serving in an official leadership position, may want to have a more active role with their boys in the program. They pay the regular member fee, agree with the Statement of Faith, submit to a background check, complete the Child Safety Youth Protection Training and are approved by the Troop Ministry Liaison (TML) This allows leadership to confidently request their assistance at Troop activities, but doesn't obligate the Registered Adult to specific service.
Step 3: Submit your Setup Fee and Local Troop Dues.
Bring your Troop Dues to your next troop meeting.
2025-2026 Local Fees/Dues
Setup Fee: $30/Trailman per year, due on joining the Troop (or August of the new academic year) DUE 9/1/2025
Dues: $50 per youth due in two parts, due November 15th and April 15th
Fundraiser: $200/Trailmen per year raised via fundraising (at least 2 fundraisers)
There are three ways to make payment:
Cash: Please see the treasurer for a receipt

Please make checks out to “TLUSA Troop TX-0821”

Step 4: Submit Medical Information Forms
Please complete the medical information forms and submit a printed copy to the Troop Membership Coordinator. The medical form is required for all boys registered in Trail Life USA for all activities, as well as one for each Registered Adult that will be participating. You may not camp without a current medical form for each person attending, including non-registered adults and siblings.
Please include a copy of your Medical Insurance ID card as well.
Vaccination records are not required to be submitted with the forms, but if you wish to do so, that's OK
Returning Members, please note that the Immunization Waiver is no longer required
Your best bet is to fill out the information in a PDF viewer, and save the information, then print it, sign it and turn it in at the next meeting. Next year, you can just update any changed information, and print/sign and turn in.
Additional Steps:
Order your Uniform at the Trail Life USA Store. The Troop (formal) Uniform shirts are required for regular meetings. Program T-shirts are optional; these are allowed at outdoor activities ($12-$17). Lanyards are available for $5 each through the Troop. We normally recommend the Uniform Shirt with Lanyard and the shoulder loops appropriate to your Trailman's level. The Troop will provide the Troop Patch with our Troop Number on it.
Navigator/Adventurers require the 2023 Trailman's Handbook available here.
The Woodlands Trail handbook is optional for Woodlands Trailmen, available here.
