#TLEF2025 - Zoom Events

We are using Zoom Events as our 2025 online conference platform. Zoom Events allows you to see the full session descriptions, create your personal itinerary, connect with other attendees, and watch sessions online. Both in-person and virtual attendees can use Zoom Events.

If you registered for the conference, look for your Zoom Events email invitation which started going out Mon, Aug 4. Don’t see the email? Check your spam folder. Still can’t find it? Reach out us Mon-Thurs at tlef@nau.edu prior to Thurs, August 14.

We highly reccomend connecting to Zoom Events on the device you will be using during the conference before Thurs, August 14 as our team will offer limited technical support during the conference.

Keep the email invitation handy during the conference so you can easily rejoin the platform. You can pin the email to the top of your feed in Outlook or star the email in Gmail.

Zoom Events will only allow you to join from one device at a time. Here are some tips on joining and navigating Zoom Events. Please note: images and steps below may differ based on your device, browser, and email combination.

Register with Zoom Events with your phone: Even though you have registered for the TLEF conference, you will also need to create an account with Zoom Events (aka Register with Zoom Events). Before starting the following steps, make sure you have the Zoom Workplace app installed and logged into on your phone.

Navigate to the Zoom Events email invite and click Register.

Click Sign in with Zoom. If you do not have personal Zoom credentials, you can enter your email and click Send code.

Click Register with Zoom account

Click Open

You can now explore the conference using the icons at the bottom of the screen

Trouble shooting: If you are using gmail, you may need to click the three parallel lines in the top right and then choose Join via Zoom to open the event in the Zoom app

Register with Zoom Events on your laptop/desktop: Even though you have registered for the TLEF conference, you will also need to create an account with Zoom Events (aka Register with Zoom Events).

From the Zoom Event email invite, click Join

Click Sign in with Zoom. If you do not have personal Zoom credentials, you can enter your email and click Send code.

Click Register with Zoom account

Click Join lobby at the bottom

Join the conference (once you have registered) with your phone:

Open the Zoom App, then tap Events

Tap Join

You will be directed to the Lobby

If you are attending in person, tap More and then tap Switch to in-person mode

Each session will now display with the room name

Join the conference (once you have registered) on your laptop/desktop:

From the Zoom Event email invite, click Join

Sign into Zoom or click to use a one-time password (OTP). You willl then be directed to the Lobby

View sessions and build your itinerary:

Laptop/desktop: Click Sessions at the top and then click the Bookmark icon to add sessions to your itinerary. Click Itinerary at the top to see your schedule

Phone: Tap Sessions at the bottom and then tap the Bookmark icon to add sessions to your itinerary. Tap Itinerary at the bottom to see your schedule

Update your profile on you laptop/desktop:

Click on your profile icon at the top right. Set your networking status (Feeling social, Simply Exploring, Hide me). Click on the pencil to edit your basic profile information.

Edit your basic profile information. You can also edit your full profile by clicking on Go to my profile. Completing your full profile will help Zoom Events match you with other attendees through the Matching networking feature.

Update your profile on your phone:

Tap More and then tap Profile settings

Set your networking status (Feeling social, Simply Exploring, Hide me). Click on the pencil to edit your basic profile information.

Once the conference has started, preview and join ongoing sessions from the Lobby:

Laptop/desktop: Click Lobby at the top to preview in-progress sessions. Click to Join once you are previewing the session you want to join. You can also join sessions from the Sessions and Itinerary pages.

Phone: Tap Sessions at the bottom and then tap Join next to the session you would like to join.

Network with other conference attendees on your phone:

Laptop/desktop: Chat with other attendees in the Lobby chat box, or click the carrot above the chat box to switch between Chat, Connections, and Matching.

Phone: Tap on Chat at the bottom to switch between Chat, Connections, and Matching.

Matching: use the matching feature to see recommended profile cards of attendees based on interests similar to yours and start a chat.

Connections: go to People at the top to chat with and request connections with other participants. Check Connections to see existing and pending Connection requests.
