One of the most overlooked aspects of setting up a small business is choosing what kind of computers the company needs. Since they aren’t as huge as most call centers, and oftentimes only need a dozen units (tops), it’s important that business owners choose the right ones.
TJR Global provides a guide for entrepreneurs in finding the laptops and computers that would suit their small businesses.
Function
Judging by how much work an employee does, owners can have a basic idea of what they need from a computer. Web developers, graphic designers, and video editors normally need CPUs that have at least 8GB of RAM. However, if the job only requires the use of Word and Excel programs, 4GB of RAM would suffice.
Storage capacity
Based on the nature of the business, storage capacity can range between 60GB to several TB. If the only files that will be stored document, spreadsheets, PPTs, and the like, 60-100GB is enough. However, if the business intends to store sound and video files on a single computer, then a storage capacity of 500GB or higher is needed.
Physical size
Entrepreneurs who need to be mobile in their offices should opt for laptops, while those with stores and a number of developers or assistants might be better served by desktops (which are also more affordable).
