Drop by Drop: Acid-Base Titration TELE
Drop by Drop: Acid-Base Titration TELE
PREFACE FOR EDUCATORS
This TELE is designed to teach acid-base titrations with the principles of the Learning-for-Use (LfU) framework in mind (Edelson, 2001).
The target learners are in grades 9-10 (Years 10-11) who already have a basic understanding of acids, bases, their properties, and their reactions. The TELE can be extended to cover other concepts in chemistry/science such as equilibrium, environmental science, analytical chemistry, and redox titrations. Various levels of differentiations are provided by the digital technologies themselves that can further expand the target learners to grades 7-12.
The focus of the TELE is to enhance learning of acid-base titrations by:
using inquiry to integrate content knowledge, skills, calculations, and application
deepen conceptual understanding especially at the microscopic level by providing visualization
providing more opportunities for students to learn and receive feedback
The TELE should supplement face-to-face teaching but can also be used as part of an online class when resources such as space, equipment, and/or time are limited.
Please share your comments and feedback in this Padlet.
