Honesty: Our Florida Resiliency Virtue of the Month
Honesty is the foundation of trust and strong character. When children choose truth, even when it’s hard, they show respect, responsibility, and reliability. Being honest tells others, “You can count on me.” At home, share stories about times when honesty was tough but worthwhile. Encourage kids to admit mistakes and learn from them—because honesty isn’t about perfection, it’s about growth. By practicing truthfulness, children build friendships, strengthen family bonds, and create a community where trust is expected and valued.

Planting the Seeds of Success in Agriscience
Our Titan Scholars have been busy in the Agriscience class! Last week, they planted peppers in the garden, learned about the amazing life of bees with a local beekeeper, and even conducted a soil pH lab to make sure our farm soil is just right for growing! They are digging into science and nature, one project at a time.
Where Ideas Take Shape
In sculpture class, students are collaborating in small groups to assemble large scale modular sculptures. In ceramics, students made personalized paint palettes which they will use all year when painting their projects. It’s amazing to see the unique pieces students create as they learn to mold, sculpt, and transform raw materials into beautiful works of art!
Cheering for World History
World History came alive on Saturday. Students in Mrs. Parrish's World History class reviewed course content, did a content and context spiral review, and practiced map skills. They were having such a good time, cheers could be heard throughout the halls during the gamified review. Well done, 9th graders in attendance.
STEAM Challenge
Students in AVID worked through an engineering challenge last week. They were tasked with building a tower out of marshmallows and spaghetti. It was not as easy as it looked. Students practiced communication, both speaking and listening to achieve a shared goal. They learned, no matter the task, collaboration and teamwork are the secret ingredients of success.
College and Careers
There have been many great experiences for our 9th-12 Grade Titan Scholars this month. We had representatives from college, universities, armed forces, and career and technical academies for our students to interact with for post-secondary opportunities.
Full Sail Visit
Odyssey students had a special visit from Full Sail University this week. They explored how creativity connects to technology based careers, including graphic arts, and Video Game design. Students discovered the many ways, imagination and innovation shape the future of Tech, sparking inspiration for their own creative paths. This is how Titans will change the world!
OCS Mentor Squad
Check out the Pride of the Odyssey Mentor Squad. These teacher mentors are some of the very best teachers at Odyssey. These mentors are great because they collaborate with our newest teachers and sharing strong instructional practices. The support they provide new teachers every day is beneficial to the new teachers, the mentor teachers and of course, our amazing students.
Media Club / Yearbook
Your help is needed to make our Titan yearbook and newsletters the best they can be! If you have great photos from school events or interesting story ideas, please share them with us. We are looking into starting a media club on Friday mornings, but you don't have to wait to contribute. For now, you can stop by room 242 to share your ideas and photos with Mrs. Oakes, or email them directly to her at oakesj@odysseycharterschool.com. Your contributions are essential to capturing our school's story!
