Streaming & Recording
Tango is a very busy hermit but does sometimes come online for special events. Unfortunately, playing on two servers at once is overwhelming, but he likes to come online to surprise us and see what shenanigans we are up to. There is never a set time for a surprise visit, but any scheduled Tango-centric events will be posted in #server-announcements on Discord.
🎙️ Can I stream/record on the server?
Sure, just do not show the IP on stream and do not show off anyone’s builds without their prior approval. Public areas like the SD are okay to stream/record, but please make sure games in the ED are open and available to play before streaming them. You can also turn on the [Streaming]-Tag by typing /stream-on in game chat to let others know you are streaming. (/stream-off to turn it off when you are finished!)
There's also a [Recording]-Tag by typing /record-on in game chat to let others know you are recording. (/record-off to turn it off when you are finished!)
If you are recording and want to be in a public voice chat, please use the Livestream-Voice channel. Do not record people without their prior consent.
No, player accounts are only available in survival mode. You can however use the Replay-mod or Flashback mod, see restrictions here.
Let mods and staff handle it. Please. If someone asks a question that you know the answer to, ping them in and provide the answer there. Unless you have a question that is not answered by the rules or FAQ there is no reason to post in . Please keep that discord channel clear so that we do not miss questions in chatter, and keep in mind that every post there pings all of the mods and staff all of the time. Thank you for your cooperation.
Definitions
We use many abbreviations on Titancraft - TC. The Shopping District is often abbreviated to SD, Entertainment District to ED, and Resource World to RW. You may also see DM - direct message and PM - private message. Some Minecraft specific definitions are: DC - double chest; DB - diamond block.
To ensure farms have good rates, players often dig full perimeters around them. These perimeters are often upwards of 300 blocks wide. The amount of blocks dug out of these perimeters is often referred to as a Titancraft Standard Unit.
Any action taken to harm or disrupt another player or their build without their express consent is griefing. This includes, but is not limited to: breaking blocks in another player’s shop/base; deliberately trapping an AFK player so they die; hitting a player with any weapon/object regardless of whether or not the player takes damage.
Server Specifics
We're planning on a "normal" length season. Upcoming versions of Minecraft may change this, depending on what they add. Generally, when a
new version is released it takes a month or two for all of our support plugins to be updated. Only once all of those are updated and stable will we
consider updating or starting a new season.
As of this time, Titancraft Season 10 will be running Java Minecraft version 1.21.1.
🔥 Will there be server events?
Depending on when a season starts and ends we usually host events for: Halloween, Christmas, Valentine, Tango's birthday, Easter,
Titancrafts birthday and of course the end of season server tour(s).
We do use some specific and custom datapacks for the above. They are written and maintained by the mods. One has a custom Dispenser recipe, crafted by placing a Dropper in the center of the bow recipe.
Yes, fire-tick is on. Use lightning rods to protect your flammable builds.
Some players need the night to accomplish specific tasks. Getting into a bed does reset your phantom timer, however, so you can click in once every 3 Minecraft nights (or once in an hour) to prevent angry flap-flaps.
Yes they do! This is a vanilla mechanic and will not be disabled.
If you want to send someone a private message in game, you can use /w, /whisper, /msg, or /tell, followed by the name of the person you want the message to go to. If someone sends you a message, you can use /r to reply to them. Reply will send a reply to the last person to send you a private message, so it might not always go to whom you meant it. Use /w if you are unsure who sent you a reply last.
For example:
`/w LiteHorizon where are my diamonds???`
`/r WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU SPENT THEM????`
If the person you plan to prank is okay with it, sure! If you’re not certain don’t do it though, as many pranks could be considered griefing. Just be careful that no blocks or builds are damaged (spawnproof to prevent creepers!) and that no one will be hurt. Pranks that destroy property or damage players will always be considered griefing.
You never have to log in. Your base and your items are yours forever. Sometimes life gets in the way of playing, so it's okay to take breaks. We never have login quotas or requirements, so play when you can and have fun!
Sometimes it happens. The server restarts regularly every 2 hours, on the hour; if it does not come back online within a few minutes, please see if someone has already mentioned it in #ask-a-mod. If it has already been mentioned it is not necessary to mention it multiple times. We will work on getting the server back online as quickly as possible. While you wait, feel free to binge watch Tango’s YouTube videos and keep an eye on #server-announcements so you will know when the server is back up.
Server restarts help keep the server running. They help free up the hostile mob cap so it’s easier to find mobs, reset server interactions, and give the server a chance to catch up. They happen very frequently in the first few months of a season. They may be set farther apart as the season continues, depending on server performance. Currently, restarts occur every hour.
The IP is located in #server-announcements. Do not share the IP to anyone, for any reason. This IP is different from the minecraftauth.me server. If you are having trouble connecting, verify that there are no spaces after the IP in your Minecraft client.
Server Locations
🌱 Where is the world seed?
The world seed will be released eventually. To keep things fair at season start, the seed is hidden and will remain so for a period of time as yet to be determined. Once the time is there to release the seed we will post that in #server-announcements
Spawn is located in the overworld at -615, 77, -1160
Find an end portal! The end will be open officially on the second weekend after the server starts. Jumping in prior to that will result in the loss of all items in inventory. Mods will not replace items lost this way.
For Season 10 we are again creating a dedicated map world. This is a flat world with a thin layer of water to prevent spawning. If you choose to build here you *must* keep your build spawnproofed. The Map World will not be included in the S10 download, but will be available separately. You are welcome to claim an area in the overworld for your map art if you prefer, so long as another player has not already claimed that area.
If you have seen a slime at your base, private message the coordinates to a staff member and we will confirm whether or not that is a slime chunk.
You are welcome to build games in the Entertainment District. The Entertainment District is in the Overworld on the west side of spawn. The portals are located at: N:-181, -1137 C:-176, -911 S:-372, -608.
This area is subject to the same entity rules as the rest of the server.
Getting Started
Explore. Go out into the world. The first 1-2000 blocks from spawn tend to be densely populated, so going farther out generally means you have fewer neighbors. Make sure you look around you in at least a 300 block diameter so you are far enough away that your base will not interfere with your neighbors. Remember, if you can see a neighbor from your place, you are too close! There is also an area near spawn that cannot be claimed for basing- the coordinates will be updated in the rules once the server goes live.
We do not have a size limit on Titancraft. Claim as large of an area as you like for your projects. Many people claim areas and dig out full perimeters - usually upwards of 600x600 blocks!
Titancraft does not use any claiming commands.
To claim your area, you must mark out the perimeter on the surface with blocks and signs. You can make pillars around the area (we suggest torches on top for visibility) or surround the entire area in a line of blocks. Using blocks that are clearly player crafted will help let other players recognize your claim. A lot of signs with your name help, especially signs on your nether portal (both in the overworld and the nether). Signs alone at ground level are very easy to miss. Putting them at head height and using torches nearby help with visibility. Signs in caves are not visible to a player walking overhead either, so please if you are making a cave base, put your mark on the surface above!
Since Titancraft does not use any chunk claiming, chests can be accessed by anyone. If you feel that items are missing, please contact a mod with the coordinates of the chest where your items had been. If you remove items from a chest that does not belong to you, you will be banned for theft. This applies to the shopping district: if you remove items without paying, you will be banned for theft.
A group of players have the intention to build a starterfarm again like we had in season 9. Until a location has been decided, it is recommended to check with other players through in game chat to trade items. There is also a resource world available to get common building materials like stone, sand, gravel, terracotta, coral, and ice. The Resource world is also best for branch mining. Once players have donated the materials, a public enchanting area will be available in the spawn factory.
Sure! You are welcome to claim an area in the End and set up a base. If you are mining resources, on the main end island please mine only the obsidian. The end stone doesn’t reset! All of the other end islands not claimed by players can be mined, however.
The best way to find people to play with is to chat with others, both in discord and in game. You can also sign up to help with public and group projects using the sign up sheet that is pinned in #build-shenanigans. There you can see who is in charge of the project and which other people have signed up. If you choose to put your project on the list, you're responsible for contacting the people who sign up and letting them know when you are ready to get started and what to expect in terms of work required. It is okay to build the same kind of farm that someone else is making (for instance, there can be two public guardian farms!), and you are never required to make a build public. Additionally, you can create threads in Discord to coordinate specific projects. Please use #build-shenanigans for these threads, to make them easier to locate.
Within reason. You may AFK at a farm as long as entities are not building up near you. This includes mobs inside of caves that are unlit!
Items that have been misplaced are lost forever, we are not able to locate them. If it is an item that was accidentally sat down (like a shulker box) or put into another chest, a player may find it at some point and return it IF you have properly named your items. For instance, “Red Shulker Box” is not very specific, but “Zebra’s Red Shulker” lets anyone know who the box belongs to. The same naming is good for tools and armor so please name your personal items!
A No-Build-Pylon is a specific structure (deepslate with lava and bedrock, see picture) that indicates an area marked for a specific project that is not available to build a base in. If you see one out in the world, please steer clear to avoid interfering. Generally these are used to mark the following areas: Seasonal event districts, the post office and the public slime farm.
An example pylon is available in spawn, near the shopping district.
Lag???
Unfortunately Minecraft is not optimized to run Survival Servers this big, so with 150+ people playing, especially at the server start, there will be some lag. Please be patient, we can assure you it gets better after a few days! To help combat lag, please do not leave blocks laying around when you are clearing a chunk or mining. Every entity contributes to lag. Light them with a flint & steel, throw them in lava, or stick them in a chest please. Lighting up caves around you will also help. Repeatedly relogging will not help, it will make the game laggier for everyone who is logged in.
Unfortunately, dying through vanilla-mechanics is something that can happen to everyone and in that case items are not replaced and mods will not assist in returning players to their point of death.
Lag is the common name for decreases in Ticks Per Second, also called TPS or Tickspeed. The slower the server is running, the more time elapses between "ticks," causing anything that relies on TPS to take longer. This includes leaves decaying, baby mobs growing up, villagers doing nearly anything, spawners spawning, grass growing, items despawning, etc. It also controls the day/night cycle so each will last longer than 10 minutes.
Most of the lag on the server comes from how many people are online. The server can only communicate with so many people at one time, so the more people, the longer it takes for the server to speak to each of us in turn. That said, there are definitely ways you can help!
Entities are the largest player controlled source of lag. Most entities are mobs, like villagers or skeletons, but anything that shows a visible hitbox when you use F3+B is also an entity, like minecarts, or all that netherrack people keep throwing out to despawn! Every additional entity the server has to keep track of makes lag worse. Entities in unloaded chunks are not tracked, but places like spawn, which is always loaded, the SD, and wherever someone is AFK, will force the server to calculate timers and interactions for every entity loaded. To help with this type of lag, light up areas around your AFK location to prevent mobs spawning, keep your persistent entities, like villagers, to a minimum, and pick up those blocks you are mining! Or throw them in lava, or use a flint and steel. Just so long as they aren’t hanging around.
Another source of lag is redstone. Some large redstone projects, with lots of pistons and timers, will cause lag as the server calculates when block actions should happen. Hoppers are a good example of this - when a hopper is loaded and unlocked, it checks for items to push into other blocks, and for items to pull into its internal storage. Hoppers do this *constantly,* so we ask that you use as few as you can and cover any that are open using any solid block that is not a Beehive or Bee Nest and doesn't have an inventory. Please don't use furnaces to cover as they create more lag. Water streams are less laggy, since flowing water has fewer interactions. Lag may cause redstone to behave in unexpected ways as it messes with timing, so it’s always a good idea to speak to the amazing people in #redstone-help if you want to discuss whether any farm is a good idea to build, or have questions about how to go about building one that will be less intensive (re: laggy!) on the server.
Redstone & Farms
Generally you can build all farms that do not exceed the entity limit or Netherportal limit. Many of the large farms you see on Hermicraft/Sci-Craft/etc will not work on Titancraft, zero-tick farms especially. If you are not sure that a farm will work, ask in #redstone-help. Note: farms that rely on world spawns, such as squid and witch farms, will not work properly as the mob cap is extremely spread out between the 150+ players.
If you found a spawner, you can claim it with a sign and develop it into a farm if you wish. Please remember, in Java Minecraft, spawners will break if you mine them. Please do not break any spawners as mods will not replace them.
There will be a public experience/resource farm list available on the Titancraft-Wiki. As soon as people build one and allow people to use it.
If you make one please submit it here so we can add it to the public farm list.
Please remember, a public farm is a farm that a player or group has chosen to make public. This does not mean you can modify it in any way without the builder's permission. Doing so is considered griefing.
You are welcome to cure villagers but please note that multiple cures do not work and if multiple people cure a villager it is possible that only the last person to cure a villager will receive the discount. This fixes a confirmed Mojang bug and is considered less cheaty.
Buying & Selling
Choose which plot(s) you wish to claim, build your shop, and stock it. You must have stock to sell when claiming your shop. No joke items and no selling items for unrealistic prices just to hold the shop. Mods reserve the right to remove your claim if it violates the rules. You do not need to ask specific permission in order to start building, just remember to verify that your shop meets all of the shop rules in #titancraft-server-rules.
This season, roads in the Shopping District are pre-marked with path blocks. Choose a plot (or group of plots!) near a road to encourage foot traffic. Later in the season the path blocks will be replaced with the final version of the road. Once we are ready to replace the path blocks with the final road design an announcement will be made in #shop-talk so people can help donate the needed materials and/or offer build help.
Titancraft uses a completely open market. You are welcome to list your items for any price. The most common currency used is diamonds, though in theory you can ask for any item in payment. People are not obligated to pay your prices, nor are other players prevented from selling at a different price.
If you feel that an item is missing from your shop please contact us in #ask-a-mod on Discord and provide us with the coordinates to the chest missing items. We will take care of it for you.
The Nether
The ice path for the Nether hub is located at 63y (if you look at the block with F3). The main branch tunnels are at -77x and -147z.
Sure! But you’ll have to get up there without mod assistance. The only restrictions are that builds (this includes ALL FARMS) cannot be within loading distance of the hub or main branch tunnels, and if you can see someone else’s build, you are too close.
No. Mods only build a small area at spawn to protect the world spawn location, establish the resource world portal, and set up the Above kiosks. Everything else on the server is built 100% in survival.
Nether Portals in Minecraft can connect up to 1875 blocks away in any direction.
To ensure that your Nether Portal is in the correct location you need to build the portal at your Overworld base and divide the Overworld coordinates by 8. Stand inside your unlit portal and look at the x and z coordinates in F3. You can use an online calculator to easily determine the nether coordinates: https://mavenspun.com/games/minecraft/.
Once you have determined the Nether coordinates, you must travel to them in the Nether and build the corresponding portal. It should link to the portal you built in the Overworld. If not, double check the calculations.
If your portal does link to another player’s portal, please do not mine the portal as this will be considered griefing. If you are unsure whether the portal is owned, assume it is.
You can build a path to connect your portal to the nether hub on a straight axis towards the nearest main branch tunnel. Look at the hub coordinates, see which point (x or z) is closer, and build in that direction. Do not build through other player's tunnels, as this is considered griefing. Diagonal nether tunnels are not permitted. All players must be able to connect their base portals to the hub branch tunnels.
Yes, you can build your own tunnel to connect to one of the main branches of the nether hub. You may not build a tunnel in a way that may prevent other players from connecting, however, so please be aware that extremely wide nether tunnels are discouraged (more than 20 blocks wide) and diagonal tunnels are not allowed at all. Please choose to connect to the closest cardinal tunnel to your portal; you can decide this by subtracting the x and y coord of your tunnel from the x and y of the hub tunnels. The lowest number will be the direction your tunnel should follow.
We also recommend that you use a sign (or multiple!) to mark your nether tunnel with your in-game name. This is so that players and staff know who to contact if there is an issue with the tunnel. Your tunnel must be spawnproofed for 32 or 64 blocks from where it connects to the main hub tunnel. This prevents nether mobs from spawning and hurting other players. It is your responsibility to spawnproof your tunnel!
Your personal tunnel may not stick out into the main tunnel. Please build the connection in such a way that players who are flying down the tunnel (and may not have your entrance rendered in!) will not run face first into it. If your tunnel is found to do this then we will ask that you redesign it, so please save yourself the time and make sure it is safe from the beginning.
If you have an issue with your tunnel, such as it being blocked or another player connecting to it without asking you first, please speak to a mod or staff member.
The slabs lining the ice path in the nether must stay so that people boating through the nether can do so safely. Missing slabs cause boats to stop or go off course.
Please do not dig in the regular nether for resources, use the resource nether located in the Resource world. We also ask that you not go “bed mining” in the nether, as it leaves fire behind and can be a source of lag on the server.
Special Adventure Stuff
The Resource worlds are custom worlds that are meant to be used for most resource mining. They consist of one Overworld world (terracotta, gravel, sand, coral, and packed/blue ice) and one Nether world. Please do your resource gathering and branch mining here to minimize impact on the Overworld and main Nether. This will ensure you cannot accidentally mine under someone’s base. There are no structures in the Resource Overworld, and only Bastions in the Nether. The ore generation and caves use the overworld’s and nether’s natural generation mechanics.
The Resource worlds can be reset at any time and any builds here will be removed. As these zones are considered public, any build here should also be public and there is no claiming or basing here. Items and builds lost to world reset will not be replaced. Resets happen solely at the mods’ discretion.
The Resource World is located in Spawn in the South-West corner of the spawn build.
The Above is a custom adventure zone created using only vanilla command blocks and datapacks. Every encounter is custom built by the TC Staff and offers additional ways to get rare items and tools. More information can be found in #the-above, and a player created guide is located here.
It depends. The Above becomes available to adventurers some point after the Main Nether Hub and tunnels are completed. The specific time after this before the Above opens depends on what changes we need to accommodate for the new version of Minecraft, and how extensive the modifications are.
Now, that would be too easy! The reset is random, the only way to know is to go there and find out. Once the resetting monument has been located we will update the coordinates here.
Coupons are unique treasure items found in custom adventure areas on Titancraft, such as the Above and the Resetting Ocean Monument. To find out how to redeem these coupons, please consult the information book near the kiosks at spawn.
