The international winter school on Sustainable Development Goals: Lessons from India is a two-week programme for students who are passionate about some of the most critical issues the world is facing today.
This program engages students with various aspects of sustainable development, focusing particularly on India’s experience with SDGs and lessons that can be applied on global level. The students will engage with key concepts in inclusive development with reference to emerging economies including defining sustainable development, climate change, environmental sustainability through interdisciplinary lens of economic and social inequality, gender, multi-dimensional poverty, marginalization, contemporary trends and debates on sustainable development, social policy and governance.
Based in Mumbai, a unique combination of fast growing yet highly unequal megacity, this program offers students a unique opportunity to study, analyze, and critically assess the social, political and economic forces that are vital in shaping the path of sustainable development.

The programme consists of seminars conducted by TISS faculty and guest lectures from working professionals, guided discussions and debates with fellow students and Research Scholars at TISS, an immersive visit to field agencies, and student workshops. The programme will also have cultural immersion activities and excursions of the city.
Assessment
Assessment
The students will work on group of five to come up with their solutions to one of the SDGs, which will be presented at the end of the course. The students will receive certificate upon completion of the course.The summer course is a non credit course.

The winter school is an amazing opportunity to meet people from all over the world. Our social programme will include day trips and cultural immersion activities, allowing you to experience Mumbai and Indian culture. Students can also explore all that the city and surroundings have to offer in their own pace. Mumbai is a vibrant city and students will find a broad variety of sites, restaurants, markets and festivals to explore. The natural surroundings of the city offer great opportunities for hiking and weekend trips.

General requirements
To be eligible to apply, students must be enrolled as a student on bachelor's or master's level and have successfully completed at least one semester at home universities at the time of application and during the Summer School.
