OOPSES HAPPEN TO EVERYONE! In this humourous class we will look at how some rather cheeky and ingenious medieval scribes dealt with OOPSES... Or didn't... And what we modern scribes can do when OOPSES happen.

4 PM - Mixing Pigments Into Paint
Basic background to lay the groundwork for understanding the world of pigments and how to mix your own paint. Will include information on "Why you might want to mix your own paint", "How to pick colors and pigments (short version)", "indexes, names, and abbreviations: learn the lingo", "tools you'll need (and not need)", "materials, supplies, and consumables", "recipes vs. ratios", "You saw this on YouTube", and "okay, let's mix this stuff". This is aimed at folks who have yet to explore the other side of the paint tube. This can mean someone who's painted for 40+ years but has never made their own paint to someone who is just starting out in scribal and wants to jump into the deep end first thing. I'll be starting with "this is what goes into your paint" and going from there.

This class will discuss the history of Flemish Manuscripts, what makes manuscripts distinctly "Flemish", and the tools of the trade.
