About TIPS Workshop

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi is dedicated to developing innovations in teaching, research and patient care. The Department of Physiology has been a strong pillar in supporting this mandate given by the Parliament of India to AIIMS, New Delhi. The Departmental faculty and students have always worked towards this aim of being the pioneers in developing innovations in teaching and research and innovating technologies for the betterment of patient care. In line with this continued mission, the Department of Physiology, AIIMS, New Delhi is organizing the ninth workshop in the series of Workshops on ‘Techniques in Physiological Sciences’ from 02-04 April 2024 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. A total of 540 participants have been trained in this annual event over the past eight years. Through this workshop, we intend to share our expertise with the scientific community and help build up scientific cooperation and collaboration in the field of Physiological sciences.

The Department of Physiology at AIIMS, New Delhi has been involved in research ranging from molecular biology to higher neural functions. The research fields include several branches of physiology, for instance, cardiovascular physiology, respiratory physiology, reproductive physiology and neurophysiology. The research projects undertaken have addressed issues like basic mechanisms underlying normal physiology to altered responses in disease conditions. At a given time fifteen to twenty research projects are undertaken by the departmental faculty members, which include some in collaboration with clinical departments. These research projects aim to understand and assist the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of various diseases.

The successful conduct of various research projects in the Department of Physiology, AIIMS, New Delhi has been made possible through the application of several state-of-art technologies that have been developed painstakingly by the departmental faculty members and students and are being upgraded and excelled continuously.

TIPS workshop aims to share these state-of-art techniques with the participants who may gain sufficient insights during three days of intensive training to translate the techniques at their Institutions. The Workshop shall expose around 60-100 participants to techniques of their interest through demonstrations and ‘hands-on’ training programs with about 15 hours per participant. The Panel Discussion at the end of the Workshop shall elicit responses from experts and participants regarding the success of this venture, and the suitability of the aims and objectives of the Workshop for in-house course correction for future workshops.
